Yup, either that or a Series 60. The 92 sounds better though.

I think you'd be hard pressed to get a Series
60 to live at 1500 hp. It'd be marginally do-able
but not very reliable or very long lived. On the
other hand, 1480 hp at 2300 rpm was a DD
factory rating for some 16V82TTA military and
civilian marine applications. Squeezing another
couple of hundred hp above and beyond the
factory rating on one, wouldn't be too hard or
appreciably affect reliability. But you're right
about a 92 sounding better! Nothing sounds
quite like a 2-stroke Detroit and a 16V92 at
full song sounds like a combination of the Ride
of the Valkyries, the hammers of hell and end
of the world happening....all at once! The
scary thing is, that motorhome looks like it has
enough room in it's tail end to actually contain
a 16V Detroit too!. It might not be to practical
or economical to drive, but it'd definitely be the
fasted and most HAMB-worthy 'bus' in the
campground!

Lol, good description on the 92 sound! That is so true! It would be interesting to see that actually done. That looks like a pretty cool old motorhome.

I wonder where they got they idea - not to
mention the incredible gall, even - to call
that aluminum-skinned 'brick on wheels' a
"Stream Line" anything!!! It's
cool, but it sure isn't streamlined!!

yeah, I hear that, there's a early 50's caddy hearse a few blocks from me in someones yard, I have always wanted to see if I could talk the owners out of it, but the 2 years i have lived here, have never seen anyone on the property.....

I like it too. (And what's so wrong with
"scary"??) My favourites are still some of
those '40's and '50's vintage, art-deco "Buck
Rogers space-ship styled" Flxable conversions,
but this one definitely has the "look" too! To
me, the front end especially, has a very
"1950's-vintage Kenworth Bullnose" look
to it - and combined with the swoopy, art
deco-styled curved tail end, to me. it looks
just about perfect! (Ok, maybe just a little bit
intimidating too, but that's part of it "charm"
and what helps make it look so perfect!LOL)
For something this size though, I think it needs
something a lot stouter than a '37 Ford truck
chassis underneath it and an engine with lot
more power than a Ford flathead V8. But the
coachwork is definitely cool!

Cool,It's got a Upside down 59 Ford truck grill!

 

The Stream Lines may not be quite Hamb friendly, but there is some strange things about them, the early ones like I posted were built on Ford 1 ton chassis with the Y block 292, the frame was added on to and then a 10 Ga. angle was welded over the frame the complete length, this was to add cross memebers to and for added strength, the dash in this one was out of a Ford panel about 59 vintage and the grills were 59/60 truck, a couple years later Streamline went to the 2 ton Ford chassis and the 330 industrial engine, still keeping the truck grill.
No they aren't very stream line, nothing like the Labbats Whites.
