I picked up this engine with an old dragster project this last week. The previous owner told me that it was a 394. It has a Hilborn injection, Joe Hunt magneto, Delong cam, finned Moon front cover, and some old finned valve covers with Stelling breathers.

Distributors. First is a stocker with a Mallory dual point conversion ( the addition of the second set of points requires the condenser to be externally mounted), which allows the use of a "Big Brass Condenser" which adds to the "Hot Rod" look of the unit. The second is a Mallory dual point, "sorta dual coil" distributor. It's kinda interesting as it requires a special "Flash-Fire" coil that has two primary windings, but only one secondary. Each set of points (with it's own condenser) acts independently, alternately activating one primary coil circuit. Since there is only one secondary, there is only one spark lead back to the distributor. This allows the unit to use a standard Mallory Cap and rotor, eliminating the need for a special cap and rotor required by regular dual coil setups. Ingenious. IMG_1236.JPG IMG_1574.JPG

Oh yeah, that's an old Offenhauser dual quad manifold on my '51 303, plus you can see the adapter to a '49-'64 Ford transmission, starter switchover, and Hurst mounts at the bottom of the picture. There's also an Olds to '32-48' Ford adapter hiding inside the bellhousing.
