It's one of my dad's cars. It's a '56 built by a guy named Marv Ringheim in Portland, Oregon back in the day. It made it's rounds as a show car in the early 60's, switched hands a few times across the country and ended up in my dad's garage in Indiana. I posted a thread a while back asking about it and was surprised at how many people came out of the woodwork that knew the car and it's history.

There's more people on here that know the history of nearly any car than ANY magazine ever will. I grew up in a small town in Iowa and remember that '56 being in several magazines, way back when ... I grew up on kustoms and still live kustoms. Here's my latest build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+cadillac+build

FWIW, I currently own a radical kustom built in Milwaukee back in 1965.

Just checked this out on you tube. Brian Wilson giving customs a hard time. I'll just add that to my list of reasons why I hate the beach boys.
    Viva Dick Dale
    Viva the trashmen.

Hmm, that wasn't my take on it at all; but like you, I have a bias: I've loved the Beach Boys since I was a little kid.

Dick Dale is great too, but I'm not too familiar with the Trash Men beyond Surfin' Bird. Kinda proto-punk, aren't they?

Anyway, sorry to have upset you. I sometimes forget how unpopular the Beach Boys are around these parts.

    Hey man, take it easy, you haven't upset me in the slightest! I took it and then replied to it in the spirit of friendly banter. I don't really "hate" the Beach boys, it just not really my cup of tea, I mean I just feel are better examples of 60s surf/hot Rod music out there:D. As for the trashmen;

I love them, and they're well worth checking out. Sorry for dragging this thread off topic temporarily but I really didn't want big cheese 327 mistakenly thinking I had a problem with him.
    Hope we are cool Dave

wow! i have pics of this from ages, but i only had side shots. Love it!
this style radikal customs of the 60s is unbeatable. ..thanx!

And yet more info! Im gonna go search your threads now.... :D

I feel this is one of the best interiors ever on one of the most beautiful cars ever.....wish i could afford Fat Luckys....

On a side note, 5 spokes were really a hot ticket on customs/lowriders in the mid to late 60s throug all the 70s and w/ the right tire and in the right car its pretty obvious why.
They are a classic, just like slot mags on hot rods.

I can dig where you're coming from, my problem is that I am a self opinionated bastard who wishes it was still 1962!

    Kripfink,

We'd be cool even if you really did hate the Beach Boys. No sweat.

I should try to check out the Trashmen. I was just commenting to my wife last night about how long it's been since I acquired a CD.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled Mild Custom thread.

Thinner white walls would make it happen for me. Bad ass, no scallops necessary, but that's just me. Pardon my quick photochop.
