I got the support bracket on. I used an existing bracket in my scrap pile and with little modification it worked PERFECT!!!

I also began the vacuum lines for the vacuum switch. Next will be the spacer plate between the carb

I did some research and it looks like my supercharger is an older model. The VS57A, VS57B, and VS57C were the first models produced. I have the C model. But with that the solenoid on the supercharger is 6volt with the older models. I won't be able to check until tomorrow but it's good I caught this ahead of time, since it's such an easy fix (they suggest using a voltage reducer, rewiring can be done though) would of hate to burn out the solenoid!!

But maybe it was converted already? Or since it was one of the last "older" models maybe it came 12v? We shall see...

This is going to be a really cool ride. You don't see too many people working on a 51 Nash and here you are supercharging one. That is just too cool.

So, I was able to get another stock carburetor for the Nash, so that should be coming in next week.

Where can I get a full rebuild kit for the carbs? (Not just gaskets, but floats, jets, ect.)

Got the air cleaner mounted. Curious to see how much room there will be in the engine compartment. I'm 98.5% sure it will fit!

just a thought, if that is one of those 4 inch paper filters. they are notorious for not flowing a much air.

I'm late to the party, but where did you find the head. Would like the same or similar for the 196 in my '63 Rambler.

As many 3-2's guys have found out, that air filter is good for a 15 HP penalty!

No point to a blower if it's coupled with a major restriction like that.

You want a free flowing intake, you are trying to INCREASE air to the carbs, try to keep it as cold as you can too.

Maybe you can hide a free flowing oversize filter behind the grill, or in a fender, and run a hose to the supercharger intake?

Keeping the intake charge as cold as possible is important, compressing the air heats it, too hot = pre-ignition issues.

  25. awsome thread chap.....loving the engine work so far. My 51 Nash Rambler had a 2ltr injected Pinto lump and 5 speed manual box...used it as a daily for a year and regret selling it...mine was a full kustom pick up with fender skirts both front and back..[IMG]

Yeah I know bout how restricting the air filter is.

I am trying to keep if period correct so I don't want a k/n air filter which would be the best though...

And I didn't want to hide one. What would be the best?

If it were me, I would find a correct looking canister type.
The Air Silencer from a 60's Jag sedan springs to mind, a lot of them are bullet shaped with a removable end cap.
    Not too hard to find.
And the filter would not be visible, so you could have the K&N.
I think it could be made to fit in the engine compartment and still look good.

    I will look into that!

Now I've always thought that the canister types were more restricting. What makes them better?
