NA! One could make a nice hot rod Hudson out of it.

Oh! and thanks for the compliment. It took a lot of work from a couple of dedicated people to get it to this point.

 

I'd also say you have a lot more to cast to get the entire car... but if anyone can do it, you can. Ever consider doing other rod bodies (like the long awaited edeuce 32 sedan?) Gary

They also make that exact same kit with the block/heads/oil pan/valve covers molded in clear plastic for a visible engine. I believe that the the visible engine is a little harder to find.

hey i just won a sealed 1978 vette 1/8 scale off ebay ....my question is does anyone know of anyone making conversion parts for this kit? id REALLY like to build it as a 68-70 L-88 or does anyone make just the L-88 hood thanks

 

Just about finished this build for good. I'm going to add Hudson twin H power air cleaners to it for the finishing touch. The frame, suspension, wheels, and tires are kit parts and the rest is resin cast or scratch built. It's been a blast to build but time to move on to the next.

 

If you have access, check out the Feb 2011 issue of New Zealand Hot Rod for a feature on a scratchbuilt 1/12 scale Orange Crate 32 sedan, and New Zealand Rodder issue 95 for a feature on a 1/16 scale (I think) Kiwi salt racer roadster.

Just got this from GMP today.It's 1/18th scale,is there any body out there that make different tire wheels and intakes for this size,Thanks .....Rich

 

Yes there is Rich.
GMP do different sets of wheels and tyres. There are a few guys on ebay that part out 1/18th stuff I have bought a lot of stuff from Ralph ( see attached link!

Also the guys at Supercar Collectibles have some wheel and tyre sets. I highly reccomend their American 5 spokes they are a real bargain at $11.95.

Thanks Geoff, I want to build a smaller version of my 32 and the kit comes with everything I used to build my 32 just need to swap the single four and narrow halibrands and tires for a tri power and the wider rears and Hoosiers and E/T gassers and firestones, just needed a starting point for the info Thanks Again......Rich

I have attached an image of what may be a good source for a tri-power for a small block and front 12 spokes. It is a Shyne Rodz 1/18th.
If you got onto one of those T buckets the 12 spokes my need narrowing, but that would not be hard.
I would have some GMP front grooved Firestones that may be of use. Although the I.D may be slightly different to the O.D of the Syne Rodz 12 spokes.

The image is from an Australian auction you would pay a lot less in the US for that model.

That's on my "to-do" list too. As far as I know, no one makes conversion parts. Vettes seemed to have the same basic body shape and dimensions from 68 to 82, so it looks like it's mostly the ends and the rear window area that need changing.

Eighth Scale "Barn" Find:

Here are a few photos of my Monogram Corvette <strike>barn</strike> patio find. It was a casualty of the Loma Preita earthquake. I started to rebuild it awhile back but then I got discouraged and put it away. I pulled it out once or twice later and thought about working on it again, but didn't. Eventually it got stuck under the workbench on my patio and sat there for years. I recently pulled it out again and think I might start to re-do it again. At least all the parts are still there and the only thing I can't repair with bits of styrene and/or putty is the crack in the back window. The engine and interior are already re-done and just need a good cleaning.
I had already fabricated the broken moveable suspension parts from brass tubing and screws and it does work, so now it just needs re-assembly.
So here's my eighth scale "barn find":

So, anyways this is what i came up with: (pics should downsize in a few mins)







The "welds" look like crap because i didn't know what i was doing which is ok because this is just for mock up purposes----i want to see if the body and wheels can be right proportionally before i go fullsize. So, i'm not going to "finish" it for that reason. Again, not really into models. Also, i didn't bother to fishmouth as you can see.

i believe this is 1/8" tubing and i used springs for bending which you can get kit at harbor freight for like $4. i don't know what scale this makes it?

This frame is a little too large for the body i got which is 1/25.

If you were going to make a 1/25 scale tube chassis, what diameter tubing would you use and why?

 

.065 wire. Why because if it is 1/25th scale and a real dragster would use 1-5/8 tubing you get 1/25 x 1-5/8 = .065.

Eight plug Mumford/Ardun head on Ford 4 banger, chain drive blower, Columbia two speed rear axle.
