another street driven tunnel ram myth busted. it's been cold up here in new england. it's been below 20 a bunch, yet everyday when i go to pull the 55 back into the garage at nite it takes 2 pumps of the gas & she fires right up & idles. weird huh? so don't be a wuss, put a tunnel ram on your car.
I owned two '55 2 dr sedans back in the mid-seventies. One was a rust-free free formerly old lady car, green with a white roof The other '55 was a metallic blue ex-drag car with wheel wells cut out like yours Seeing your car, I just kicked myself in the rear twice for getting rid of them, even though it was 35 years ago
cant remember if i saw your car at the fallout or the milltown show. maybe both? either way, that thing is friggin cool!
Perfect choice on the front wheels. What tires are you going to run on them? I picked up an old set of Dragmasters for the front of my heap and I'm undecided on what rubber to use. Something with a square sidewall?
yeah you saw it at both cuz i can say the same about your car! it's actually gonna be gloss white with a candy red flake panel paint job on the roof & decklid now. the white grew on me. i'm gonna run some tall skinny bias plies eventually, with a thin white wall preferably. but for now i'm stickin with 165/15s. tires are expensive...
These are on my shopping list. Thought you might want to see them. they are plenty skinny, have the old bias style tread style, and probably ride better than bias. Oh Yea, They're CHEAP. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-NE...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
those are long gone. i wanna say they are 185/65/15s on american racing rims. i only ran those for a weekend. the ones i have on the centerlines now are 165/80/15s & i think they look great (size wise) but like i said i want bias plies all around eventually.white wall piecrust cheater slicks out back obviously. i'd run the coker 5.60 15 pro tracs out front too, white wall or not.
thanks alot man! i haven't done anything put brush snow off this thing all winter! they'll be on soon enough haha
i hear that mine is buried under 3 feet of snow all you can see is the top of the winsheild lol.....cant wait till its thaws out....
i have finally found my winter motivation! it starts real small with the simple task of cleaning the nasty self aligning rocker arms i need to install. i did that today. soon i'll be pullin' the intake fixing that collapsed lifter & gettin this motor back to where it should be! i'm on it.
thanks. those are nice but this one was free from my buddy who works at a tire warehouse & the last 165/80/15 i got from him was like new for 10 beans. i like the hunt.
finally got around to fixing that bad lifter from the trip to fallout last october. installed a set of (used/free) self aligning rocker arms & a set of new (also free) poly locks to try & keep my valvetrain together this year. after pulling the intake i found out that i was pretty lucky that the bad lifter didn't come apart. it saw more than a few hard trips to 5 grand. good thing sbc parts are dirt cheap! i also love how easy this thing is to work on with the clip off.
