I can not believe you knew that is the Old Orange II!..... It was love at 1st sight of it at Laverty's Performance. It was still OOII, I loved it!, never thought I would own it. Bought it from Moyer after it was black, drove it on the street for a few years, then thought I needed more power, had G. Ostrich build new 468, never put it back together. (check profile for another pic)

I grew up in Carlisle and remember it being at Laverty's. Carl had it back down there for some work after it was painted black. I think the last time I remember seeing it was at the Balogna Nats in Pella.

This was an old drag car that I bought in 89 and made into a stock class auto cross car. It was originally a Big Block and no the numbers didn't match. I even had a sticker made for the windshield that said "no the %$#(^% numbers dont match" people got akick out of that.It had a 454, 4 speed and a 4:11..... it was fun! Wished I still had it

I remember reading a story in a mag about this car and it's owner. I think he went to Vietnam and did not return alive.

As 34 Coupe said you are correct. The car was owned by Charlie Snyder and i believe he lived in Astoria a part of Queens (thus the name Astoria Chas). It had a couple of 427s including an L88 from Motion performance I believe and Charlie had some success drag racing the car in 67 and in 68 while on leave. He died in Vietnam in 1968. I have read that Joel Rosen borrowed the car from the Snyder family and set some records after his death as a tribute I guess and afterwards the car was parked.

Good running car I understand it ran into the 10s eventually. Pretty cool car-Jim

This is Peter Bonavitos car from Astoria NY it had a 426 Ply wedge and torqueflite with the factory cross ram manifold I believe it ran A/MP. Sadly Peter passed away and I would like to find any info on the car. I know its a loooong shot.
