This is what it looked like after he put it in the woods at 148MPH at the end of the 1/8th mile. Just after the guard rails stoped at a local outlaw 1/8th mile track. It was up and running a few months later.

No joke. There was a 63 or 64 Corvette here in St.Louis that was found in a garage by a realestate agent while selling a house for a elderly woman. Her brother left it there in the late 60s , AFX style big block car. Crazy paint, injected big block. etc. I bought the Eelco tank out of it when the new owner turned it back to stock. Even welded in a new crossmember patch. Where the previous owner cut it out for the big block balancer. I wish I would have found it. That car would be hunting guardrails at the HAMB Drags every year.

I didn't know if a GS Vette would really fit in this thread but here's one more.

One of the REAL ones is in the Simeone Collection in Philadelphia. It was the Penske car.

The 63 GS Vettes were some pretty decent factory hotrods. Pricey little suckers today though.

I remember quite a few early Vette drag cars and I look at all of the old pictures and I only wish I knew where they ended up. There were a ton of them, yet how many even still exist today in drag race trim. There had to be a large number that were not hacked up that were turned back to stock. Future generations will have to live most of the history in old photographs. Good thing for threads like this that may show there were more to the old Corvettes than matching numbers.

I like this old pic with the injected 62. It appears to be Charlie Wilson's Vicious Vette in the background. Would like to see those guys go at it.

War Rat is one I know nothing of although it does have the look.

Lang's Malco gasser appears to be pretty well turned out for show as well as on the strip.-Jim

Here are pics of mine. The story I got from the PO is that this car was raced from day 1. I bought it from a fella in Cleburne Tx. It came with no engine or tranny so in the spirit of drag racing I added a Hilborn injected 327 sparked with a Mallory mag and followed up with a Muncie tranny. Previously it was backhalved with a four link using the leaf springs and floater housing ends on a nine inch and tubbed wheelwells in fiberglass. So it's a former drag car that I had the audacity to drive on the street.

Nice, I like it. Good choice on the injected 327. Do you have any original pics of the car or know any of its history?-Jim

Hey Jim, I don't think those have been posted in this thread. Good pics nevertheless.

Seeing the pic of Mr Pickett, I have read that this was the same car as Vicious Vette. Anyone know the history?-Jim
