Jim, It was great to see you guys again, truley a class act. When you guys pulled in friday nite with those lights on, you made my whole weekend. Truley eye candy for ANY truck guy.
Looking foward to seeing you guys again, aye. You give drag racing a excellant image, hard work, great preformance......but Winston and that truck put you over the top.

Wonderful truck.

Speaking of trailers. They are so expensive and you may not find what you want. You can probably build exactly what you want for less then the price of even a used trailer. You obviously have all the skills you would need to build a trailer.

I love the use of the Jeep Grand
Cherokee seats and console in there!
They look and fit perfectly! Instead of
the fixed pedestals you're using, have
you thought about sometime in the
future, mounting the seats on a couple
of air-ride bases? That would be really
cool and probably improve comfort
quite a bit on longer trips.

About moving the brake and fuel pedals
from under the floor to under the dash,
I noticed you used the term "master
cylinder". I'm a bit puzzled. Does the
truck still have air brakes or have you
converted to hydraulics??? Just a
thought, but If you're still running air
brakes on the truck, if and when you
build a new trailer, for ease of hook up,
braking power and controlability, it'd
be nice to use air for the trailer brakes
too. Also, having air lines running to
the trailer for the brakes, would also
allow you to add some additional air line
'plug-in' connections - maybe a couple
inside the trailer and and one or two
on the outside, as well - to run air tools
for working on the race car.

I like this with the open glass sides but maybe a little more simplified.

Are you using a spring suspension?...Air-Ride would be nice!
One of the coolest project I have seen..absolutely stunning along with the `55 with those American 200S. Very Nice Indeed...

 

i love it i am just starting my hauler project, it's a 1955 chevy 5700 F, i will transplant it on a late model motorhome frame, 454 trbo 400 gear vendor OD, 22ft roll off bed, and a 14ft giant sleeper . it will be 38ft of bad gas milege but tons of fun.

We did use the stock springs but we removed every second leaf. It rides pretty well but air ride would be better. It's a pretty easy upgrade so we might change it over some day.

Awesome hauler guys! I was so glad when I looked at the cat yelow engine and realized it was a DT466. I hate the small cats and perkapillars. Great use of that school bus, and you knocked it out of the park with your wheel and tire combo!

 

I have a soft spot for the Macks of that vintage. The fire department I volunteered out west had a 57 B series open cab pumper as front line apparatus. This was the first truck I was certified to operate. Double clutch all the way, if you ground any gears you failed your test. The truck was bought new by the city in '57 and was in front line service when I moved away in '88.

Last time I was there to visit, 1991, it was a reserve unit. I'm afraid to think where it is today.

Anyway, enough crying about the past, great job.

 

Jees those Macks were a pain to learn how to drive. I worked in a heavy truck shop in the late '70s and we had a few. Had to let the rpms drop to idle, say a prayer to the Mack gods, cross fingers, leave burnt offerings etc just to keep the damn gears from grinding. I eventually got it down though, no doubt with a few gear shavings left in the bottom of the tranny.
