I think the 41 is a really beautiful car and lends itself well to customizing. There a feature on a 41 in TRJ not so long ago.

Yes that was another very sad day in the automotive industry when they stopped making the big bad Mercury ! The Mercury was a very well made car with such beautiful lines , shape and a quality . The 41 was one of the best looking cars Mercury ever made . I really liked the 1st & 5th photo the most . Nice chops and skirts really set them off nicely . Just curious hot tall was that one guy ? Looks like somebody took a normal size guy and stretched the hell out of him ! I still do really like the ones Mercury made in the 50's too . Some were very wild looking but still very nice . All the pictures enlarged fine for me .

The Mercury will still live for a very long time to come even though they were discontinued from production . :(

Ohh yeah, the '41 Mercs are so great! I have been doing some research on the Bob Tormey merc lately as a relative of Bob contacted me, and is going to provide me with some additional photos of the car. According to Rod & Custom March 1956 Bob bought the car after Barris had restyled it...does anyone know who the car was originally restyled for?

Here are what I have compiled on the car so far:

Johnny, you have to spend some more time on my site :) Bob's 1941 Mercury has been on my site for a few years already!

I have always loved the 1941 Mercury. The longer nose makes this such a great canvas for a very nice custom car!

Hi guys....Im a new member and I joined because of your 41 Mercury thread. Im lucky enough to own one of the prettiest ones ive ever seen and I wanted to show it off a little bit. I dont know too much of the history, but from what I DO know or have heard....It came out of the St Louis area and used to be PINK with a flathead. It now has a 350 chevy although Ive disquised it to look like an early olds. Ive created an album here but I dont know how to post it into the thread......John

Yea, lots of guys(especially younger) think this all started from the chevy v8.WRONG!! those flathead Mercs were everybody's dream.I put a 1951 Merc engine in my !953 Mainline Ford and beat a lot of cars with it. My dad gave me his !951 Merc 2 door when I was 14. I put it in the ditch one winter night on snow-packed Iowa roads. Man i hated that!.
(But that is where I got the Merc engine for my '53 Ford)

  18. I bought mine in 99...It was all original and maroon. I traded it to my Great Uncle in 04 and he flat blacked it, lowered it, and added all the accesories. I was able to get the car back in 08...It will be maroon again.
