Aircraft-Igor Sikorsky, engineer and pilot, flew what he built. He designed, built, and flew the first 4 engined plane, designed and built the PanAm Transatlantic Clippers, and the first helicopter. He was still working up until the day he died, at age 83. In my view, a lot like Tesla, another one who never got the credit he deserved.

It's funny this thread came up, as I've been pondering the greats in different fields, and looking for the reason they are the outliers.

 

I'm tickled to see this thread come up again.

Mason Williams and Roger Penske just popped into my brain, and they both deserve mention -- for wildly different reasons.
