i had this in the friday art show a while back, but i really think it belongs here...
its a 30 fiberglass grille shell, that i restored and striped. then added some neon and some jigsawed flames with some internally mounted neon to edge light the plexiglass. then, popped the clock button right in the middle.

I finally got my desk done! It has a 50s metal desk under it and I keep the computer in the grill. It was already cut up as a trailer when I got it and lots of bondo so no cherry 55 was cut up for this!

    .

I have done a couple of versions of these

Valves are V-12 cat (heavy) industrial and what looks like serpentine belt pulleys are oil seals for industrial compressors, as are the bearings and cages.

The tallest one is about 24 inches and around 50 pounds.

Accidentally dropping one on the floor caused a 6 inch crescent moon shape about 1/2" deep.:(
    :)

KennyP turned me on to this ride and I built one. I have to give him credit and he was great when I had questions. KennyP is the MAN! He has some great ideas for neat projects. Oh yeah, just like KennyP states in his post, now its a derby that sits in the garage!

This thread rocks!! I am very impressed with your guys fab work. I want to build a desk in a bad way now. I just imagined an entire house's decor with everything built from classic auto parts, how bichin would that be.
