Need for a low amp 1156 bulb!

Maybe slightly O/T, sorry. I have a big "STOP" tallight that I want to rig up as a shop sign. It has an 1156 two opposed pin socket and I've got 120 AC to DC that go up to 1 amp. But an 1156 pulls 2.1 amps. Anyone know of a bulb number that will fit but be of low enough amperage? I know LED's are low power, but I'd rather use a "real" bulb".

Yea, a 1156 bulb is rated at around 26 watts which works out to just over 2 amps. Try a JC-4010, it is a halogen bulb with the correct base rated at 10 watts.

 

fROM THE sQUIRREL'S LIST, this is a real common bulb. 1/2 as bright as the 1156.

yep , i guess that's right , i should have checked first before posting

P= I x E , so 26 watts divided by 12 volts equals 2.1 amps

you might try a #67-same size base

 

You should be able to get a LED replacement also.

 

Thanks, I know. But this light will look much better with a "natural" light illuminating it.
