I was having my cars moved to a storage lot (where people don't steal them) and saw this bomber oxygen bottle (B-29 I think) laying on the ground and asked the owner of the lot if he wanted to sell it. Using these things as gas tanks is probably considered "passe" nowadays but I couldn't resist grabbing it for $20. If nothing else, it'll make a good airtank right?
Yep. Cool. Always will be. I gave fourty for one this summer at a swap. Used one for gas tank in my dirt track stocker in '58. From many aircraft that had a 'low pressure O2 system" (400psi).
its cool just cause of the history of where it came from, and what it did for the person it kept alive at 30,000 feet in the air! sweet score!
He used the Olde English spelling- "Thus, I taketh a drag from mine own bonge" Nice score on the O2 bottle!
I found one of those out in the mojave desert looking for ''Patton's lost army." I found the site but I never found the rest of the plane... spooky
Elmo's voice, gurggle sound, " Today's number is L, what's the rest?" Neat to find an aircraft ox bottle for a no price.
