New MetalFlake Steering Wheels on the market now!

I just found out that Speedway Motors is now bringing to market 4 different colored MetalFlake Steering Wheels....so I figures that I'd let my HAMB family know.

do they work?...speedway has gone down hill of late.

 

Mooneyes has new ones to. Bought my dad one for fathers day very nice. He is installing it on the Willys tomorrow.

 

Mooneyes wheels look similar to the old Covico...I seen them at the Motorama.

My question is about the adapters to put them on your car. They show GM '69 & up. What about a '59 Ford, or a '55 Chevy? Where can you get adapters for older cars?

I am building a '55 Gasser and would like a green one - 13"...

As a product of the late 60's early '70s, I salute you. I ordered a red one for my red rod.

 

adapters for '69 and up?! Do they not even know what that kind of style car that steering wheel is normally used on?

 

ive got the red one from speedway and i used a grant steering wheel adaptor from autozone on my 64 ford 100. seems to be good quality.

I went to Don's Hot Rod shop in Tucson to get an adapter to put an old Superior 500 wheel on my 55 chevy. They had the Grant kit (the specific one that fits 55-56 chevy cars ONLY) in stock!

Works great! although I did scrounge up an old chrome bezel, the new kits come with black bezels (I bet a lawyer or accountant is responsible)

My local Autozone has in stock or will order the correct Grant hub adapter for just about anything. They're right around $20.

 

I am not partial to the Speedway wheels - the grip looks way too thick, but the Mooneyes ones are just the ticket - I need a 15" diameter red one Santa....

Too bad they're from Speedway. I don't buy anything from them unless it's something that I know is actually from Vintique.

 

I bought the new red 15 inch from Mooneyes, The quality is very nice. Good. There you go.

 

I got a 15'' Red one from Moon.. Nice quality..Kicks aSS.. the grip on the speedway model seems a bit fat..

 

As far as aesthetics go, the Moon Eyes look better to me.

 

Yep, the Mooneyes are nice but I still like the old Superior 500's, If you are using the slotted ones you may as well trim your car in billet acces..

 

heh....didn't mid 60s vette steering wheels have slotted spokes?

 

Grant or supeior adapts work on the old 3 bolt pattern wheels! I have alot of old nos superior adapters had over 10K of them bought out a wharehouse! email me years & I can ck at work! Tks Bill [email protected]

Plenty of the old '60/'70's flake wheels had slots instead of holes. This is an old Grant wheel from my stash:

After seeing both in person . I ordered the Mooneyes one.

 

I checked out the new Moon wheels at their booth at the CHRR Sunday and they look pretty sweet. I have one of their old blue 'flake wheels and the quality isn't even close to the new ones.
