    Citroen C4 - 1932:

"In 1932, Henri de la Sayette entered a Citroën C4 Roadster in the 24-hour race at Le Mans – and it remains the only Citroën ever to have competed in the famous race.
Henri was 27 years old and had inherited a large sum from his father six years previously, which he’d spent on cars. The second driver was Charles Wolf, who in fact was the only one that actually drove the Citroën in the race. The car lasted three laps before expiring on the circuit with electrical problems."

    1922 GP de l'A.C.F.
Pietro Bordino - FIAT 804. He was classified in 4th place after losing a rear wheel on 58 laps.

OH come on Bluto- that's a picture of your old soap box derby car.
(sorry, not in keeping with the intent of the topic- but I couldn't let him get away with that!)

  16. For those of you in the Dallas area....Manifolds on Main street is this weekend. Bart Stevens puts on a good show there.... and speaking of Dallas, anyone got any more postcard photos or any photos from the Dallas area from pre WWII thru the 1950s they can share, A friend of mine is doing a presentation for Manifolds on Main street. He could use a couple of photos of tracks in that era.
Thanks in advance if you do.

"Do not be misled by the conning tower, which
suggests that the driver's head is enclosed; there
is a gap between the front and rear portions, as
Cecchini has to breath like the rest of us."

"THE BLOWER", WRITING IN THE LIGHT CAR MAGAZINE, JUNE 1938

Jim, are you saying it's not a sexy car? Obviously it's not as cute as the production "little mouse" that became popular amongst the dragracing fraternity but personally i like it. I posted a photo of it on the Pre WWII thread asking for more pictures but i guess it got overlooked.

At Monza, the driver set speed records for 80-, 161- and 322-km [50-, 100- and 200-mile] stints at 137.42kph[85.39mph], 138.69kph[86.18mph], and 131.92kph[81.97mph] respectively. Not bad for a car originally intended as a city runabout.

Give T6 a couple of spare tires to hold while you're exiting a corner at speed. That would be an excellent photo.;)

Back: I took dozens of photos with T-Head's nice camera, but something nasty happened to his computer while downloading them (we like 90 year old technology better). I only took a few shots with my Fisher-Price and of those, these will give you a feel for the ride. Wish we'd had an Imax crew on the back. They'd have been clinging to the spares. The car got some well deserved exercise at the hands of a master, and I was pleased to be along for the ride.

Nice shots. I think there is a limited market for "I've Riden with T-Head in a MERCER" T shirts.
