  1. Lettering up my original '57 gasser, and having trouble deciding on a cool name. Here are a few top choices (photoshopped), or if anyone has any good ideas post them! Thanks,

    How about "the Mad Haddam"

  4. Yup, "White Lightnin'".........

  5. Dragline. No reason it just sounds better to me.

I really wanted to say Gypsy Queen but I like you too much for that. :D

BTW didn't even know you were working on a real trad gasser. That is a nice looking car.

  6. I like the way mr eliminator looks. kinda reminds me of the lee eliminator cars of the late sixties/early seventies.

If it's an original gasser what was it's original name? Why does it have a name? Why don't you let it "earn" a name as you go. Like "Money Pit", or "Mr. Fix It".
I don't name a dog as soon as I get it, I wait a while and see what fits.
I met a guy the other day and asked him what his dogs name was. He said, "Sooner". I say, "I guess you're an OU fan?" He says "No, he'd sooner shit on the floor that go outside." :)

" The Boss Machine " sounds like a Mustang thing. " Dragline " sounds like a Fishing Magizine and Mr Eliminator makes me think of Dyno Dons Mercury. How ever the " White Lightnin " was a good suggestion IMHO

  9. That's what i was wondering as well
if it's an original Gasser and you are restoring it, do it as original. If it didn't have a name, why does it need one now?
If it's a new build, keep searching, i don't think you've hit it yet.

How about "none of the above"?

  11. It's an original built car, but I don't have any real history on it, other than some time slips from OCIR. I prefer lettered drag cars myself, so why not? But it is tough hitting a good name. White lightnin is cool, but has been used alot...

to name a car is personal . i have named most all of my race cars/bikes & have now named my "A" , but the name only has meaning to me . so i believe if you wait & think rather than being in a hurry , it will come to you . most of my "great" thoughts come to me at nite when sleeping . maybe sleep on it for awhile ............... steve

  19. White lightnin' was the name of a car from a John Travolta movie. Sounds a little too much like a musical to me.

The car is most likely a late '50s or early '60s build from the looks of it. So that pretty much makes me think that Eliminator is out also. Sounds a
little too close to the '70s.

    Just my thoughts.

And for info only a drag line is something on a dredge not something to do with fishing. Takes lots of torque to pull a drag line. Just sort of fits.

    "Bite by Hurst" ??

  21. Ya Hurst racing tires, I'm running 7.5" cheater slicks.

  22. "Connecticut Flash" or a derivative such as: East Coast Flash, New England Flash and so on. I don't know why, but the name Flash seems to fit.
My all-time favorite name is: "Cajun Queen", but that was back in the early 60s. Today you might catch some shit with the "Queen" part. Maybe not if you lived in San Francisco though.

Ok Thanks. To be honest, I never thought of Hurst in regards to slicks back then. I ran the Casler's or M&H back in the day. :D Some lettering from Jack Burr (RIP) back in the late 60's.
