I bought this car ( See the photos in my album, please) with no papers and no idea what she is. Her frame has been shortened and the headlights were originally ON the fenders, not in them. She was last registered in 1963, according to her license plate. 1937 was found yesterday while she was being sandblasted and 707954 was found on her frame. Any info/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if nothing else it looks like you've already established the gender.

  6. Process of elimination.

    It's not a truck...
    It's older than 1963...

C'mon we're getting close people we can do this!

Can you take some better pics from the side, the suspension, or the frame?

I went to the album. Looks like a home built job probably late 50's vintage. That was fairly common as early british sports cars started hopping the pond. Grille maybe hudson? or ?? Cand ID th front fenders from the pics--same with rear images.

I bought a similar car a few years back we called it the PLYORD. flathead powered 40 ford chassis with dropped front axle. the rest was home built 40's vintage plymouth fenders and section hood, homemade body with chrysler imperial trunk spare and a lift of 50 dodge roof. I'll post pics sometime if I can get them scanned.

irregardless it looks like a fun car.

Whoa! You're good! The closest we've found is a 1934 Studebaker Dictator...very similar to the grill, anyway.

Well after that last post you are probably going to paint it pink, put your spandex on and cruise.Maybe you should load up the dolls, stick you a big engine in that thing and see if the wood firewall does its job.

Gents, I have many photos but (being an obedient little girl) I am sticking to my instructions, which were to ask for help based on the grill and front fenders. Thanks for your comments, and sorry about the broken image link. I will learn how to post photos before and if I ever inquire again.

Now see, little ol' me is wrong yet again. There is TOO "one" in sight.

Now you DO have an idea there, but my collectibles are even more rare than yours and I treat them with respect. The second idea has merit. It would be interesting to run a big engine in her, take her for a spin, and see which side of the firewall chars first. Unfortunately, the wood firewall is no more.

Thanks, Gary. It may be my imagination, but I see hints of mid-'30s Delahaye in her lines and grill. No exact matches, but enough of a look to make me wonder if that wasn't the car the "mystery man: behind my mystery car had in mind. In any event, I'm enjoying the search and seeing gorgeous old vehicles I've never heard of before.

Delahaye crosed my mind as well, definitely an influence, accidental or intentional.
