I just picked up a 54 chevy car and my wife like the grill so much we mocked it up and are going to install it on her 51. Would you guys mold in the top bar and paint it or have it chromed

I have always wanted to do that. Thanks for posting I think it looks great. I think it would be cool to see a 53-54 nose on a 49-51 fleetline as well

  8. I might would be inclined to either mold in the top and split it so the lip opens with the hood or make a new lip with a nice flare to the edge rather than the bump the original bar has (think: the flared lip the Hirohata Merc has).

  9. Mold in the top bar for sure. But that is just my opinion.

I like it, but yes I would mold the top bar in. drdave has very good point too. That would look sharp.

Geoffery Im leaning towards chrome also. It would still allow for the front end to be seperate pieces. I was also think of using the top part of a 53 grill I have and molding it in which would give the lip a much smoother look. Thanks for the opionions keep them coming.

Heres an updated pic thought I would share. I ended up frenching the headlights chopping the roof and extending the quarters before I got back to the grill but here it is as of now. Im going to add two more teeth on the outsides once I do some trimming of the inner fenders.

Mold it in and paint it. Otherwise it looks like a lip that sticks out too far and conflicts with the grill bar. Is there a way to eliminate it all together and make that area appear flat?
