There seems to be alot of gasser post going on lately and people asking about how to's. I have been taking pics of front axles to see how other people do them and there is some variety out there from good, bad and ugly. A picture is worth a thousand words, so I thought I would put some pics up and would like to see more pics. I find it interesting how many different ways there are to do this from shackle in front or back to push/pull steering or cross steering ect....

This really shows alot of good stuff. Good pics. Alot of different interpretations on suspension flex, and launch angle must have been involved in the design of that stuff. It baffles the mind, but makes you respect the builder/driver mentality.

Anyone got pics of the Ford F1 axle being used? I have one, and looked at using it for my '62 Fairlane, but I'm thinking it needs to be narrower by 3".

tread width on the Fairlane is 57" up front, and the F1 should be about 60", so that's why I assumed 3".

    EDIT: F1 front is 58.8"

Pics of my Henry J with a Chrome Tranverse spring over stainless steel straight axle that was custom made back in the late sixties. I did some trading for it and built the Henry J for it. Then my 41 Willys truck has a speedway kit under it. Which it drives great. Thanks for all the cool pics.

  24. No doubt there! I patterened my setup after Barons'. He gave some good advise when I asked questions. The tie wraps on the drag link might need to be tripled up though lol:D! Baron and Shakeypuddin have set the bar high for tri 5 'axle seups.

  26. I took a couple of pix of this little 62 Chevy II at a local car show last Sunday. The car is red, but I took it in b&w for fun.

Here's a '61 Falcon I did a few months back with a '50 F1 axle I narrowed 4". It looked just right with the front end on it as far as wheels positioned in the fenders.
