im likin it looks good, my dad just picked up a 27 roadster too

 

I am seriously impressed with your workmanship. You are the man. I am trying to build a glass-bodied '27 roadster, in my garage, on the cheap. It's my first attempt, and I am in way over my head. But it's coming along, and I am optimistic about the results.

 

I am on a roll more vintage bling!
License plate bolts (not sure about them but the are traditional dress up)
and a original YANKEE 331 tail light

 

I don't get on the HAMB much but I just happened to run across your build thread and had the time to look through the whole thing. You'r building a really cool '27 here and I have book-marked this thread so I can see what happens next. The car has a nice selection of parts and a good look to it. Great work resurrecting that rusty body too. '26-'27 Roadsters are among my all-time favorite hot rod material and it's so nice to see one done as a nice traditional car instead of a cartoon proportioned, hyper-low rat rod.

Here's a couple pictures of the '27 on '32 rails I built for myself. It's been on the road now for just under 3 years and runs an all-early drivetrain: '35 engine, '34 trans and rear. The only new part on the car is the custom-made Walker radiator (and I can definately feel you on the price of these things!) Otherwise, every part on the car is genuine old stuff and none of it newer than '48. It's even got a chopped '29 raditator shell just like you've changed too! (Never mind my dad's '34. These are the most current pics I have of my car and we had just finished "polishing" them before displaying in the Seude Palace at the GNRS.)

 

Those are two mean roadsters! Excellent.

I just read this thread word for word, all 11 pages. I've got a rough 26 T roadster missing its turtle deck and I'm starting my parts hunt! Inspiring!

So the bottom 2 inches of my driver door was rotten away. I have been looking for a reasonable drivers door for 2 years. Today I made repair panels and fixed up the old one. took all day but at least its now usable!



and here is another shot of the rear to make me feel better for spending 9 hours on patch panels for a frigging door

 

Looks great, keep up the good work. Very inspiring, oh & I like the Union Jack as well

 

One more rear bun panel and I have all the sheet metal done!

My buddy Mark came over and helped we mounted the master cylinder and ran all the brake lines

Any hints/tips for making this? Did you just make a buck to fit it to?
I ask because mine will also need them.

 

Actual before I realized I could do this myself I purchased hand made buns from "The Model T haven" for a silly amount of money. (I did not know any better at the time)

They were not the correct shape for my year and did not have enough definition.
So I used my sandbag and a bunch of hammers to re-shape them.
Complete waste of money the amount of re-work I could have made them from scratch.

I also purchased the Harris patch panels, there not bad and I made a tape template from them to get the correct compound curve

For the edges just cut two formers from wood clamp and bash the lip over.

I am picking the tub up today (no paint) to work on floors etc while my buddy preps the back.
So last night I had nothing to work on so i wired my homemade fuse panel.
Everything is run on relays so I dont have to worry about high current in old switches and even added a remote trunk pop for the shaved look on my rear.

 

I am impressed with your abilities. Don't suppose you're a member of the T.N.G.A.? We had a meeting last night in the Snohomish area.

 

No I am not, I know Steve quite well and only live a stones throw from him.
My buddy came round in his chopped and channel model A last night and we were looking for some were to cruise and did not even know that Steve was having the TNGA

Pulled a sicky from work today to get stuff ready for Monroe swap meet and see if i can grab the good stuff this afternoon before Joe public. Mind you my Stuff table is overflowing already

 

You missed a great meeting. Love Steve's Whippet! I have a previous commitment, and won't be able to make the Monroe meet.

 

I did a deal with my buddy Mark for the perfect seats they came from the estate of an old guy that restored Bi-planes!

Also i need a turn signal switch and could not find a old one. so I got the 20 dollar speedway one



Replaced the flashing green light with a piece of turned polished luciite and built a horn button into it, changed all the screws and fixing bracket to brass and painted it with hammer finish paint. The wires now run through a shoe lace and are tiny because all the switching is done with relays. I must confess I patined it a bit too.
