At first I thought it was the Tony Nancy dragster but I think the body on the rail is a german Messerschmidt micro car. Having a passenger car type body it probably ran in an altered roadster class. Engine seems to be Small Block Chevy and the body advertises a 2-speed torque converter which is probably in the car.
Messerschmidts seated two people in tandem with an airplane type plexi canopy. The flat surface at the top of the body is where the mechanism for the canopy rests on. Here they use it for a tach mount. If I recall correctly this car was featured in Hot Rod magazine.

Someone mentioned that he had the scale models of Grandpa's dragula and the red baron and wished he still had those... You can still buy those at your local hobby shop... Check these out!...... For more info, check with: www.modelroundup.com or www.revell.com for more pics of other new or old old kits.

This one is a clone, but nicely done.

  12. This is a clone built by a guy in the Pa/Oh area, offered on ebay once and eventually sold to the Volo Museum guys.

Here is a couple more clones I took pictures of last fall in N.C. Makes you wonder how many are out there? I know of at least three of each and I am sure there is more!

The original was supposed to be in a musem in Volo IL, about 5 years ago. We went to Chicago for my son's navy ceramonies and was advertised as being there on several billboards. Went to the museum wasn't there yet but the display was being built. A great place none the less al ot of movie cars and old show cars, an impressive collection of original and modified cars too ,most where for sale.

  17. Wasn't it the Hot Rod Herman episode where Herman performs the compression test on the Munster coach by putting his mouth over one of the carb intakes and blowing down it with consequence of flames blasting out of the exhaust pipe?

I remember a line about the exhaust pipes, Grampa mentioned he got them off an organ, and they played Oh Promise Me once on the car. (you didnt hear that in th episode)

Then of course when Herman had to stop Dragula as the competition did something to his brakes and parachute cable. Herman got dragged around the track trying to stop the car.

    Barris at his finest lol.

  26. thanks Doc.
    always loved the munsters.

  27. I watched a Munster marathon just so I could record that episode on vhs, which of course I have transfered to dvd now. That and the Lively Set are on the same one so it makes for good entertainment for an afternoon.
