  3. Mate, the coupe is a bitsa. We used an Australian 1965 XP coupe & cut the rear off adjacent to the boot hinges & placed a 1960 section on, to resemble the early low rear tail light look of the american coupes.

The front grille & headlight surrounds are from an ozzy '63 XL falcon & the front bar is from a ozzy '64 XM falcon. See, told ya she was a bitsa! The signboard we made for her at carshows says she is a XK/L/M/P 1960/1/2/3/4/5 Falcon!!!!!!

    Falconeer,

Do you or anyone else have any more info on the Holman-Moody "Power Pack" Falcon? I am putting a '65 together that I would like to setup like like H/M car and would love some more details.

    Mr Model T,
I talked to Charles not long ago, he is the one that cloned the Holman & moody Falcon & he was very evasive about what the power pack consisted of. I think in addition to what i posted the head had been shaved an bigger valves was used. I was very active in racing in those days & had some dealings with H/M . If i find any more info on the Falcon i will P/M you.

That’s unfortunate. What good does keeping that information to himself do? It’s not like a hot rodded 144 ci Falcon engine is going to give him an edge somewhere.

At least when a hoarder of vintage parts dies, his stash has a chance of getting resold on to people who will appreciate it. If a fellow hoards information until he dies, that information is just gone, which is a tragedy.

Thanks Butch! I am planning to set up my '65 Sedan as a Holman-Moody inspired Power Pack "what if" prototype....for something a lil' different, so any info would be greatly appriciated! Also, what mufflers would H/M have run on something like this? Don't really want stock stuff (want a good sound) but not sure if they would have used their own mufflers, smithys, cherrys, etc?

I agree completely. Never understood that whole mental process....what does it get you or accomplish?....we just don't know the story. He could genuinelly NOT know all the details and just sounds evaisive, but then again....

I like falcons, they are good for alot, Gassers, Hotrods, Or even god forbid the "Double R" word.

Its a shame they didnt go on into the 70s, ahh who cares the 60's falcons were better anyways.

Funny, though, i cant find a running one for 2000 on craigslist.

Kind of a random question but somebody in this thread may know. I've got a 64 K code convertible comet. Does anybody know if the 289 cast HiPo exhaust manifold will fit? It looks pretty tight in there to me.

    Thanks for any help.

Lots of nice Falcons in here.

A K code comet is not like a k code mustang. I's only a 225 HP, not the 271 HP you might think as in the mustang. The exhaust should fit since they did come with a HiPo motor. I don't think the shock towers were trimmed to do so.

    Thanks

Yeah I know it's not a HiPo motor. I was looking around at headers and saw that they're repoing the HiPo exhaust and thought it would be kind of cool to use those.

I've heard and read all kinds of things about what you could get in the Comet. I've heard people say they came with the same HiPo motor that the Mustang came with except for the headers because they wouldn't fit. Lots of stories out there and I don't want to hash it out here that's for sure. If the exhaust manifold will fit without trimming or deforming the shock towers it would be cool. I'm just trying to do a little research to see if some one else has done what I'm thinking of. It can't be an original idea.

The Mustang/Fairlane hipo manifolds will not fit your Comet. They will run hard into both spring towers. The Falcon parts vendors used to sell hipo manifolds that were redesigned to specifically fit the '60-'65 Falcon/Comet engine bay, but I don't think they are still available. Hedman 88400 shorties fit very nicely, but won't clear a manual trans bell crank.
