well stuck in a blizzard here booooo.had to walk to my shop..this stuff is gonna be here for a while because the city doesnt touch my alley..gonna suck i have a customer car coming soon im gonna have to shovel the whole thing. no time to work on the poncho just been shoveling snow at the house the road to the shop the dog bein a nut ball in the alley.
At least the Dog is havin' fun. Kinda wish I could email you my snow plow, but it won't fit on the scanner (I'd need it back though ).
customer stuff has me busy as hell(i cant complain though $$$$$$$) finished widening a lambretta scooter now i gotta finish a 61 ford quarter panel and some other things on that car and i will be caught up and the pontiac is gonna get a whole lotta attention
G'day Flop. Loved following along on your build all this time. Just wondering what was the main reason for swapping to the tig from the mig? Were you getting cracking already from working the metal due to the migs harder weld or some other reason?
ahhh the lambrettas are fun and easy money James D and ya get to practice bunch of metal skills.. i will post a few pics if ya folks dont mind folks.. then headed to austin in april for the round up so hopefully i can finish up the customers 61 so i have some poncho time. this ones widened because its going to go on a newer 2 stroke motor. customer started it and decided he didnt have the skills to finish, the whole backof the body is a gas tank.. all the shiny metal was my doing this ones stretched 15 inches body and frame to make it into a 3 seat scooter the whole scooter is custom custom custom stainless insert above custom taillights visor welded to body Last time for me bein in jersey bill marlas comin back the end of this month...there goes all your hopes and dreams haha i switched to the tig Gojeep to learn how to do it.. the welds def take more of a beating but i have no problem with mig welds cracking just hammer the hell outa them before you grind them all the way.
Love the chop. I am going to look at a 52 Cheiftain tomorrow and I will definately reference this thread if I get it and do the chop. Thanks for the detailed pics too! Brian
Looks too weak and uncomfortable to ride for any length of time, oh, we talkin' bout the scooter!? Flop, dig yourself. Don't be including a dual intake up there on the shelf if it ain't for sale, I call dibs...what is that inline intake to?
I used to work for a pommy boss a few years back and he always referred to a persons nose as a Lambretta (Lambretta Scooter - Hooter) Cockney slang. And now back to our usual broadcast....
That is great to hear Flop as bought a good mig on the basis of what you had achieved on this project with one.
found my weekly craigslist super underpriced deal of the day haha. 51 merc front bumper with guards for 100 bux haha... gonna go on the front of the poncho. guards need severley chopped up they gotta be almost a foot tall at the moment!!!
Hey Flop, whatcho been upto? How's the Poncho doing? This is my favorite thread on the entire HAMB and we want progress!
at the roundup now!! hittin it hard when i get back since 70 percent of the customer stuff has now left the shop
Can't believe that merc bumper didn't need narrowed! They look so much wider? Opinions: Quit wasting your time and do a Gramm Page hot rod!
