Art & Inspiration Sunday Models 2/28/10

Guess I'll kick off the week's thread with a few pics of something that I just wrapped up the other day...

A Renault Dauphine gasser that I cal the "French Tickler"...





I started with the remains of an old Hubley Renault Dauphine built-up that I picked up, cheap, at a toy show a couple years ago...
The chassis from MPC's '33 Willys snap kit was used for the curbside style build...



Though it's hard to see through the tinted windows, the interior, built from sheet styrene,
uses the roll cage and steering assembly from Revell's "Miss Deal" and a bucket seat from AMT's '33 Willys.



Paint is Testors One Shot Lacquer "White Lightning", fogged with a cheap pink nail polish,
using an airbrush and cleared with Testors High Gloss Clear ...
I designed the decals on my computer and printed them on clear Testors decal paper...



Aluminum injector tubes are "Parts by Parks" items...
Headers were modified from AMT's "Rat Packer" AWB Nova

Finally finished the Hollish Bros. coupe.

Here are the pics.












This car is approx. 95% scratchbuilt. The only kit items that were used on this build were the engine, blower, rear tires, rearend and cowl. the rest was scratchbuilt and very few items from the after market. I wanted to see if I could build a model without using a whole lost of items that made the build look like jewelry but more realistic...

Narrowed and cut down 34 F0rd Super Modified. Injected small block on a scratch built frame.

 

That Hollish coupe is the schit! I love the attention to detail. My dad used to run around with the Hollish boys back in the day. I'm going to show him these pics today, hopefully.

Yesterday was THE BIG SIT. Just a bunch of guys from several model clubs in the mid-atlantic area meet at a hobby shop in Philly, look at models an eat enough pizza to feed the people in Haiti.

Excellant work guys. Love the Dauphine. I have neighbor that drives a twin to the blue 5 window. And the maroon '40 is tits!

 

Cool looking builds this week everyone! The Big Sit? I like that! Pizza would go good about now! Love the modified and red and white pick up, Lyle. That would make a cool hauler.

Some kool stuff today, love that Daulphine Marty, can't wait to see it in person next weekend!!!!!
As for my weeks hash session I went in a totally different way than a lot of people may think of. I'm doing something for an NNL that's coming up in Waukesha. Their theme is "Big Rigs" and if ya know me NOTHING is safe in my house. I'll cut up what ever I can. So why should a semi be any different?????
I'm doing a hot rod wrecker and it'll have a twin blown V-12 mounted behind the cab.
I hope this isn't to far over the edge!!!!!?????






Where it sits now, I'm leaving it un-chopped. I sectioned the hell out of it though.....






Micky D's drinking straws for stacks that will be mounted between cab and tow bed. I'm going to make a modern day lift/boom for it that will catch the axle on truck being towed. Stacks will be cut at 45 degree angles and chromed.
