I can't pin it down to the penny, but I'm super close at the 6K mark with my 53 in my avatar, including purchase price. It is still not finished, but are they ever really?

It funny how people are so quick to say you built something wrong, without knowing anything about it.

I like the IH. I figured you must have built it with junk since it was cheap. Looks fine to me!

Bought this for $1900 last August:
Sold engine, trans, rearend, seats, and some other parts for just over $400.
Bought everything for the build used from neighbors, friends, Craigslist, swap meets, etc., except for a new Speedway straight axle, wiring harness, brake lines, fuel lines, front tires, and headers.
I'm under $6k in it now, but still need to buy body and paint supplies to finish the body next winter. But it's a driver now, so I'll enjoy my budget ride this summer!

    Here is mine under 6k..

58 TBird, started out free, towed it out of a front lawn with a jeep (had sunk almost to the body)... We are now in it about 3k, that is the used 390, new tires, front disc brakes, rebuilt fronts and and the 1k for the tunes.

Not sure it's old enough for the HAMB, but it does get lots of comments when we rip around town with it.

Working on a budget is all part of Hot Rodding, using what you have and make the rest.
I have less than 5k in mine, counting the purchase price of the car.
Granted It's not done but she is road worthy. I think its a good deal, I could have done it for alot less ( no M2 or airbags) but its what I wanted.

    About $5k into this.Lotsa favors,horse-trading and I used to barter bead-blasting for labor.Friends have helped a lot.
Some interior(seats are done)window trims and one glass pane, gauge install(got em) and then paint the dash and trims.
Exterior is old paint before the "patina" craze hit. It'll stay this way awhile yet.
I have other wheels/tires that go on it...
It's fun to change it slow and see the progress?
(P.S.the front valance has been repaired recently.)
