    The Detroit Autorama is Feb 26, 27, & 28, 2010

We've always had Meet & Greets scheduled for each day of the Autorama because there has always been so many folks going on so many of the different days. This year will be no exception.

How does 3 pm each day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Single Finger Speed Shop display on the lower level @ 3pm. This gives everyone a chance to get back from lunch plus it's too early for folks to be leaving Cobo for dinner.;) If you remember from last years photos the Single Finger display was the one whos background looked like an old filling station.

Larry, AKA: Safari-wagon and the Single Finger Speed Shop guys have offered up their display for us HAMB folks to hang out in, meet, bench race, put your feet up or whatever. This will be downstairs in the lower level. They've got quite a few spaces and will have lots of HAMB member's cars in the display including Big Olds. I will hang a HAMB meet & greet banner there as well as the Single Finger banner.

Other things to see and do in the area.......

There is a "People Mover" station in Cobo, two floors up from the main level, which goes around the city in a 2 1/2 mile loop. It's 50cents and worth it to ride just to see the view of the river, bridge, etc. One of the People Mover stops is Greektown which has some GREAT restaurants, bars and casinos. The top of the GM RenCen has a great restaurant as well PLUS there is always a nice collection of GM cars in the lobby from the Heritage Center so stop there to check them out for free.

If you're into BBQ, Slow's BBQ on Michigan Ave right by the old Tiger Stadium (torn down now) and the old train station (still standing and a really cool piece of local history). Not only great BBQ but the BEST mac & cheese I've ever had bar none.

There is a good burger place right across the side street from Cobo Hall called Cobo Joes. If you're in the lobby exit the doors on the left, thats Conrgess. Left on Congress and Cobo Joes is on the right hand side one block down. The Post Bar is right next door.

If you go out those same doors and go straight up Washington for two blocks and turn right on Lafeyette and down down two more blocks, there are two great coney island places on the left. I prefer Laeyette Coney Island but right next door is American Coney Island. Perfect for lunch.

And if you are in from out of town and have never been to The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn or the Chrysler Museum in Aurburn Hills, you really should try to make an effort to visit there.

Also, don't forget about the Pinstripers Jamboree. It's upstairs, kinda in the center but all the way in the back. LOTS of HAMB folks always striping there. Stop by, check it out and buy some artwork during the charity auctions all three days. The fridge in the Pinstripers Jamboree area belongs to me so if you feel like laying some lines on it over the weekend knock yourself out. It's going to be a group effort like my computer room door was years ago. I will be making a donation to Leader Dogs for the Blind for the effort.

OK, so who's going to be there???? and will you have a car on display, if so what??

Sounds good bud! I'm trying to get the powers that be to agree to allow me to bring my full size kitchen fridge so I can have the stripers lay some lines on it over the weekend, of course I would donate $$ to the charity for this. If so, I'd be honored if you'd contribute some lines.

WOW, you got a three day kitchen pass??!!??:D

No HAMB Mingle this year. As of yesterday I don't even have a sink in my kitchen let alone any cabinets. One lone fridge and that's it. I guess that's all we really need for a party but since my living room is filled with boxes of kitchen stuff....and my stove, it'd be kinda hard to mingle except for the open kitchen space. Next year.

Hey Denise, I wont make it this year...Jr, Clark, Big John and the rest of the PA bunch will be there though. I'm doing the antique selling deal (or my day job :) ) at the Atlantic City Auto Auction. So if anyone is going to AC, stop by and say hey.
