I appreciate the public and private comments, critiques, insights and reference suggestions on my scratchboard work. I know how difficult it is to start naming names because there is just so much great work here to absorb. I'm trying to develop my own brand of visual insanity and am starting to post here because I respect the level of work and consistent high-caliber of hot rod art talent displayed here for free every week. I'm just trying to get better, be original and learn from the best.

What I appreciate about these shows:
The illustrators who go way beyond technical proficiency to tell insightful stories. Photographers who use light and environment to communicate the feeling of the owner's pride. Pinstripers who master an ancient hotrodder art form and find new ways to make it their own. Cartoonists and graphic designers who brilliantly capture monster/surf/pinup/low brow art attitudes. Concept artists who can still dream up wicked combinations and modifications of favorite cars even after so many have already been done. Artists who explore new surfaces and media techniques from sandpaper to wood to fiberglass to nuts and bolts to Legos to tool boxes to suitcases to grinding wheels, granite etching, plasma cutters, toilet seats, garage walls, giant finks, helmets, motorcycle tanks, bowling pins, christmas ornaments, tattoos and t-shirts. Pencil artists who nail the essence of cars and a lifestyle we all like. Sign painters who know how to contemporize old-school brush skills. Photo real, impressionist and self-taught painters who create automotive masterpieces that could only be called fine art.

It's an honor just to share these same pages with my humble scratchings. Sniff, sniff..I feel so emotional I think I'm going to cry...

    Bo

  7. Any more shots of the 63 Merc? I'm doing a 63 Marauder, and would love to see more.

  17. Yes, some time ago. I was up early one Saturday shortly after buying my MacBook and wanted to break in the new Wacom tablet ( 10" Intuos3) as well
as Photoshop CS2... I scribbled the line work in about 2 minutes, the whole thing in about 15; posted it on the art show within 20. Several artists were cranking out Steve C.'s (Coupe-De-Cab) Golden 'A' and I wanted to join in.
Here it is along with the update with his new coupe as he had sold the gold one prior to this one.

"Coupe Up" or "Coupe upped" or something...

I'll be making prints available when I can get my stuff together along with
    some down time...

Just for shitz and gigglez, here is another one of which I owe Steve either a copy or original drawing ..........

Awesome, glad I tricked you into a panel swap before you hit the big times. Keep up the good work.
