Jim -- A Styling Secret from Checker Cab. I once had to
do some work at Checker Cab in Kalamazoo. In their styling studio
they had a full size concept car for the new Checker. Instead of doing
both sides, they installed a full length mirror through the center.
The reflection made it look like it was finished. Probably did not have
steering wheel in the concept car. On the other side of the mirror
was another mirror and another concept design (that way they had
two completely different designs on one car). This could save you a lot of work or
you could do two designs if you used their idea.

the door looks a little long, especially from that rear angle shot....

love all these different ideas you are coming up with though!

I like it better and better every new update you do... This definitely is the Best and most Exciting Hamb project in a long time... if not ever!

But on the last modification I think you have the cut away section to "horizontal" With all the movement in body lines this Horizontal line visually moves downwards towards the front of the car. I think the cut away section (and also the top of the skirt) should flow from the top of the front wheel opening... I only had time for a very rough Photoshop.

And I also agree on the to long door... Not saying the door I have is the perfect shape, but the extra material in front on the windshield post like you have it taped up now looks odd.

The top of those doors look so right, much better than the way they were! I think we may be looking at a top show car being built, like it or not its gonna be right up there for the sheer work and style put into it.
Keep going man, this just gets better and better!

At one time checker was thinking of getting in reg passenger car
business, these were the far future design (not like a brick )

ABSOLUTELY!! Looking at the photoshop pic it really has a constant flow from the tip to tail!
I like the shorter door idea as well, but considering how small it is, i'd almost nix the door idea all together and mold it in so there is no gap to break the flow of sheet metal. Just a random thought i had when i was looking at the pics.
The car is going to slick once you finish it up...it is now..
Now, stop making more work and get-er-done! haha :)

    not much ;)

  23. Gotta say Jim, it´s looking incredible right now. The old saying about "looking like it´s going 100mph" was never more apt. No more big changes needed at this point IMHO.

Hey Jim, I can see why you wanted to bring the front of the door all the way up to where the previous jamb/hinges were (still are), but it obviously would look much more balanced back where Rikster has it. I would think that if you just made a new set of bulk heads/jambs to place further back, placed those in (from the inside) and installed a hidden hinge kit, then cut the door free, it may be a relatively easy way to move the door to where it looks right.
At any rate this design has really gelled in the last few weeks.
Before it was cool - now it is just plain gorgeous.

With a choose your own adventure ending for each car, photoshopped by James D! We'll have to wait for the final unveiling to know WHICH of the endings is REAL!!

    I'm still loving this.
