Hegman's '51, hands down, it's the closest thing to perfect your going to find, as far as craftsmanship and simplicity...and Nothing's perfect! A very close second would be any Merc from Bragg. Charlie's is very nice too.

  13. You may have a point there.
    And it´s got a 51 rear window - I always knew they looked better!!:p

  14. I like the way you think,my friend!

  15. Still say mine. I guess I'm playing favorites..

14 pages and this is the first mention of this car! Are we getting blinder? Pictures do no justice for this car. Its beautiful. To me it is pretty much the epitome of a Merc.

My choice is the Matranga Merc. But I like the Ralph Testa Merc as my favorite 49-51 and the current owner is a great guy also.

I cleaned this thread up a little bit...

Lets keep the focus on the Mercs.

Jack Walker has a clone of the Hirohata that he had built for him in the eighties that I'm sure a lot of people have seen at shows... Its getting to the point where its worn in and it looks SO legit I have the urge to wana drive the shit out of it...

    EDITED... :-D

I have to say the Matranga merc has inspired my current project. Dream car really. But I digg this 40 merc also. Brian Everett's 40 merc

I just saw Carey hart's mercury. It’s OK. I was planning to use a 58 caddy nose on mine, and after seeing his car I have completely changed my mind. It’s not as cool as I thought it would be. Or maybe it's just his car. It looks like it's just bolted on and it doesn't flow into car. But, I am a merc guy so I don't totally hate it. As far as a favorite I don't have one. Being a child of the 80's I can say the COBRA merc is what turned my on the these cars<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

  28. Back window?? Oh, the bullet hole! Well sometimes I see pretty blue and red lights but I just ignore them until they go away.

  29. I have been a big fan of custom mercs for many years and have built a few myself. If we are talking about custom Mercs with major history I would have to say Mcneil's 51 and Matranga's 40 but there are so many others that are just as nice and even nicer.

My wife's 49 we built about 15 years ago is still my favorite but you be the judge

Does your wife still has it.. and have you done the new paint? Or was it sold and somebody else redid it?

I guess its a bit to wild for something I would built... But I do like to look at this one a lot. Its way over the top. But it really suits the rest of the way the car looks.
