For all you North Texas guys, I will be at Manifolds on Main and will be accepting drop offs there. I will at least have a sign so you can find me along with my Black 48 Plymouth Coupe.

What about maxium and stuff mags. They are "mens" mags with no nudity. I have like 4 years of them in boxes in my garage I've been keeping to get them to the troops somehow. A buddy of mine spent 3 tours and said that they were very popular.

    Hey Kevin,
If we aren't close enough to drop off a donation, is there an address we can mail directly to or can we make a cash donation for something to be bought?

If you want to send the troops phone cards, I always used International cards when my husband was in Iraq and if you have access to AAFES you can get them the cheapest there.

Everyone! You need to PM me your contact information for me to add you.

    HAMB Name
    Place Name
    Address
    Telephone Number

  17. Anyone coming to the Hunnert Car Pile-Up can bring items from the list at the top of this thread and put them in the box at the Hot Rod Chassis & Cycle booth. They will be located where they have been the past few years - the first booth outside the main vendor building, look for this display:

Most of us take so much for granted in this great country. Please support our troops this Christmas. I hope we can fill the box to overflowing, twice over!

  20. I'd help ya with a So.Cal. Drop off place. Maybe we can get Jim from socal LA or Troy from Hollywood Hotrods. I'll get with both to see if they will help.

Please no magazines of this type. Believe me, there are enough over there. And they get circulated. Hot Rod and Custom type magazines only please.

Although I'm not trying to limit the drop off sites or anything, but I'd rather not have SoCal be a drop off. I would be very afraid it would become some kind of commercial deal or something, and lose the HAMBers helping HAMBers/Soldiers vibe. I don't know. Thoughts?

Last year Jimmy White was the drop off. Let me get a hold of him and see if he wants to do this again.

    -Ray Gun out.

Dirk, um, I assume by SF you mean Security Forces, right? (No offense Kevin! haha)

You're taking the thread out of context. This is a HOT ROD DRIVEN event. Mom and dad can send the cookies. We send the CAR RELATED goods...

you kinda killed this thread man.

Dirk35, thanks for the real scoop on what what to send the folks over there and what not to send. As an old Cav scout I can well remember how much we appreciated the care packages from the world. There guys out there today who if they saw my grandmothers name in print would automatically think "cookies". Packages from my grandmother or her best friend who was like a third grandmother to me were usually guarded by my squad mates until I got back so they could get a share of the goodies.
Sent you a pm. Save it, The info will tell why.

In Iraq we have Spaware phones and internet. Service is cheap as hell in comparison to phone cards. I don't recommend phone cards because you don't get your moneys worth with AT&T. VFW, USO and other groups are always handing them out anyway. I have 3 cards in my wallet now from the last deployment. Use the cash for other goodies. It would be better spent.

Sorry Im a thread killer. Just honestly just trying to help people not to buy stuff that wouldnt be appreicated. I always feel a little sad (well, no fuck it, it makes me a little sick)inside when some of the guys open a package and dont appreicate items sent (their young and just joking) cause someone just followed the list.

I edited my post since I cannot inject tone and inflection in the type.

Oh yeah, by SF, I mean Special Forces, the dudes the roll up the bad guys in the dead of the night and do not have to stick to 670-1....shorts with boots, beards, long hair, and badass.

Rob, thank you for the PM. Ill keep my eyes open.

It's ok Jesse, I knew what he meant. If he'd have been talking about us, he would have said, "SO", and no one says that. :D AFSOC!

I know what you mean, that is why I just send car stuff, and let mom and dad, and the VFW send the other stuff. I see way too much of that stuff get tossed in the trash.
