I try not to count my chickens before they hatch, but I think this one will peep. A friend runs a shop where this one was left well beyond the original terms. He finally got word that the previous owner was otherwise detained for a term imposed by the state, and nearest family has surrendered the title, so the storage lien will be exercised.
I had been nagging him to give me a figure, so he called yesterday. I plopped down three digits this morning. He almost paid me to remove it.

Aside from wheels and tires, cloth and carpet, a battery, tail light lenses, maybe some brakes, I don't see much of concern. No holes, no big dents, and it made it into it's resting place under it's own power. I guess we'll see if it runs next weekend. Yes, it's big, has four doors and doesn't like sharing parking spaces, but it will be a cool ride for the family with enough attitude to keep me respecting myself.

Can you see some discrete panel lines in a slightly off shade? Maybe a few sublte pinstripes?

Man, too cool. My buddy Craig (THE LIBERACE on the hamb), bought a '61 caddy last month and asked me to come along to check it out. Guess what it's stable mate is? Almost a clone of yours, only black. Only nearly complete and total brokatude has kept me from picking this thing up! Never been a custom guy, never liked "late models" (is that really almost 50?!), but that one gets me! Glad to see yours - now I think I'll take a ride and see if the other is still there.......

  4. First thing I'd do, after cleaning it up and running, is to ditch those trailer wheels and go with something much classier for rolling stock! Couple of seat covers, and you will have a decent-looking BIG Mopar! Enjoy!

    Hey,

Those late Exner era Mopars are as near as ya can come to a factory kustom!

Do both you and your family a huge favor! Replace the single resivour master cylinder with a post-'67 duel resivour master.

My '61 Fury road much better than my '64 Caddy Eldo. ever did!

I once had a '73 Fury that totally insulted a friends Eldorado wthout trying!

    My thoughts excatly!

I think it's the 383, but it might be the 361. (single 2 bbl) I'll take a closer look when I get it home.

Thanks for the reassuring remarks. You never feel right with a new boat until your pals tell you you did good. :)

That's too cool. Wish I had friends and deals and places that didn't rust everything to kingdom come like that! You hit the nail on the head. I, too, want to get a car for the family that I can still respect myself whilst rollin'. :)

    COOL score!

Looks like yours is a bit more solid than mine.I picked it up this spring. The engine should be a 361 like mine also.I flaked the roof, added 2" blocks in the leafs, and dual exhaust with glass packs.I also made the grille with drawer pulls from Lowe's.These cars make nice cruisers.

Look at all the love for the Ol Chrysler ..

My friend in high school had a 61 4 door , we had many a good time in that ol fella ..

I found it many years later in a junk yard ..Popped open the trunk and still empty little Oly's ..

I think they send it direct to the yard when he traded it in ..

  19. Chrysler made some classy looking cars. Over the top but still cool. I love the Dash/interior too. push button tranny. Ought to be a fun car.
You should get some electronic horn that does Navy type alarms and warning.
Like when they are getting ready to launch planes off a carrier.

Congrats with the car. You've now got one of the coolest dashes ever made in a car.
I agree the car deserves better wheels. Even a set of smoothies will look way better usually.
You could black out the grille for a more tougher look perhaps.

    I got a fairly loaded '62 Chrysler NewYorker wagon with a 413 engine in it;

Go play with your little British cars, Pussy!

That is Efen Cool! Tell me about your wheels and tires. I like the torque thrust look, but probably won't set it so low. Is that black or do I see some red in there?

    Thanks all. I'm kinda stoked.

Lucky bloody you! I've been looking for one of those speedo's; had to be one of the coolest ever made. My Dad had a two door '62 H model. Treat it nice!

  27. Dang you Scotty! I freaking dig it! I am partial to the old Chryslers (and Newports, I have two of them) for some reason. I agree, nothing wild needed, the car speaks for itself.

Maybe you can tell me where to find parts! I need tail light lenses and interior stuff badly, but can't find any Mopar parts earlier than the musclecars.

That's pretty slick. The color is just right.

What's the trim on the back? Are those louvers? Not O.E. are they?
