  4. Holy shit dog !! The sequence of photos shows the car gettin out shape and rolling, then back on the starting line with the rash of the first wreck evident, racing again and getting outta shape for the second time and what looks like the makings of another roll job !! That's real racing !!! >>>>.

I think your assesment is on the mark. Perhaps there was too many flopper circuits crammed into too small a region. Who knows. But I am to the task of making a chronicling of the various barnstorming circuits. Let me know whats involved.

Amazing that an acid dipped, aluminum nosed '64 Mopar with a home made roll bar can roll over like that and still make another pass. Try that with any modern POS with all the mandated scientific safety goodies and you'll likely need the coroner to make next pass for ya'!

They were not thinking it was a 64 hemi race car. Back then it was just another car.

Hawkins, Webster, & McLeod...now sort of restored...so what's with the "Speed Parts by Ma Zard"? "Ma Zard" was Jim Busby's mother, and as long as son-in-law Mike Bartlett drove the car, Ma Zard paid for the parts...good deal all around.

Now thats a cool tidbit of info. Jim Busby was later to become an accomplished road racer too having competed in Europe and later for BMW on the IMSA circuit

that grill plate, which had two young toddlers looking into their diapers with the caption: "the difference is delicious!" hung in les hawkins' garage for many years. wonder if it made it to the restored car of if "it" was recreated?
