Just back to London from my annual 'pilgrimage' to Bonneville, and then onto Monterey. Terrific time, and thousands of pics. I thought I'd share a small selection with you..... www.fluidimages.co.uk
Nice shots!!!! Hope you had a great time and I am sorry you had to see the car in the 4th image down. Haha!!! That last shot seem like it was colorized because it's supersaturation. That's the only place on earth I believe colors could be that vivid.
Wonderful pictures. I love the lack of stuff in the background. Believe it or not, it's hard to get during speedweek, there a lot of people, cars, cones, etc. So nice work.
Great shots!! The Roadster above is owned by Greg Lazarini ^^^ as noted in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=388027&highlight=greg Malcolm
Unfortunately I was at Pebble Beach, yes ! I flew straight on to San Francisco from SLC, and then down to Monterey for the week's events. The racing at Laguna was terrific, but Pebble was pretty horrific (6th time there - I never learn !). The tragedy is to see magnficently engineered machinery reduced to pampered items of jewellery. Here's the winner. Being pampered.
I've now got all 300 of my shots up on one of my sites - http://bonneville-speed-week.smugmu...SPEED-WEEK-2009/9455347_GGjF7#634318661_sMjCq Hope you like them...
The 1937 Horch Voll & Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet.....Stunning car, well worthy of 1st place...I saw it about 20 mins after I arrived Sunday & said to my friend...Thats gonna win. Lemme know when your here next year....
The coveted Best of Show trophy at Pebble Beach went, as many expected, to veteran entrant Bob Lees dramatic Horch 853 Cabriolet by Voll & Ruhrbeck, emerging from a monumental in-house restoration which is rumoured to have included a chroming bill for half a million dollars (theres rather a lot of it). Whoever commissioned this leviathan back in 1937 must have been quite a character- it looks even longer than Bobs Daimler Double Six which took overall honours in 2006. Please tell me this isn't true.
Tim, its Pebble Beach....its true...The Mormon Meteor that won 2 years ago was bought for like $5 million a couple of years before, and then they spent about the same again on the restoration....
