Anyone know if there are any 727 trans mounts out there that have a low profile? I don't want to use the stock type mount because of the low hoop of the stock 727 crossmember. A GM type mount would be great but the holes are way off where they mount to the trans. Trans is a 77 - 727
Try looking at a Anchor P/N 2272 Trans Mount... It's been a while since I've messed with a TF so I might be wrong
Any idea what year, make & model that anchor mount is? I could check it at the local parts store. It looks too tall. I need clearance and don't want my crossmember hanging too low. Thanks
I nicked the photo from O'reillys, so they must stock it... '66 Dodge Polara is what I guessed... Most auto parts stores can cross that Anchor part number over if they stock another brand... You might end up adapting something from GM to make it work. Maybe weld the GM mount onto the Chrysler base...
I don't want to weld to the rubber mount and the bolt holes to the trans are about 1" narrower than the GM There must be something out there, what are you Mopar guys using in rods???
I'm using a Valiant one on my 727. It's similar to the pic above but has 2 bolts.I'd say the height of it would be the same as pictured. I made the trans mount to suit it so height wasn't a problem. swifty
Sorry, I'm at work and don't have my reference materials with me... BUT my 71 Road Runner uses a "loop" type trans mount with the bolt that goes through the center of the isolator. (Similar to the '73 & up motor mounts) It might be a little lower profile? Better yet... This is just in case you get a keyboard jockey for a parts counterperson and they INSIST on knowing "yearmakeandmodel" in their first sentence...
65-71 Dodge Pickup mount is about as low profile as you can get (pic is upside down BTW) Imperial services makes new ones http://images.google.com/imgres?img...mount&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en-us&sa=N&um=1
Thanks ajmopar, that looks like the ticket. I will try Imperial services tommorow. My local parts store say they can't find it. Thanks again I knew I could count on the Hambers
Highjack. Wondering if I could use thed same mounts on my 904 TorqueFlite??? Does the 904 TorqueFlite have the same bolt spacing as the 727 ?? Piper106
'62-'64 Chrysler transmission mounts are also low profile, but they are square on top. They are only about 1.5" high I think. Originally they were used with a large spring on top of them between the mount and the transmission.
COOL, thanks for the additional info after my post! And here I thought that I knew a lot about Mopars!!! Good stuff to know!
Got my trans mount from Imperial services today. It is exactly what I wanted, a little pricey at $79 but just what I wanted. Thanks to ajmopar and everyone else for their input. I knew I could count one the vast experience of the Hambers to help me find it.
