New look for my 51 Ford pickup- whadda think??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Aug 9, 2009.

  1. This ol 51 pickup is my daily driver of sorts. She runs/drives like new but I can't leave well enough alone. I have wanted to lower it a little, but it rides and drives so nice I didn't wanna sacrafice that. So I just drove it stock height with plain ol backwall tires. Tonight I threw the tires/wheels off the Model A on it to see what she'd look like.
First off YES- the front tires are way too small, but they were all I had around. They are 5.50x16, and I think it needs 6.00x16 or 6.50x16. But the rear looks good. So I may be ordering up a set from Coker along with a 3" dropped axle. don't mess with the springs and it should not effect the ride.

So what do you guys think??

I personally would have used the same size white wall on the front and back.

Well, like most things you do, I hate it.

Just kidding, I like the whitewalls, just bigger size up front like you mentioned.

Blackwalls for me as well. The rears look too busy with all that white. The fronts are ok. The paint just doesn't compliment www's. Not that my opinion really matters.

DOD is Department of Defense....not so crappy, but at least the sticker is on the bumper and not the windshield.

  13. Blackwalls please.

  14. HAHA...That sticker is from like 1985. I gotta find a way to get it off without taking the paint along with it. Any ideas??

    Blackwalls.....

  19. I am normally the anti WWW guy, but for some reason they work on your truck.
I even like them with the trucks "patina", has a kinda coolness to it. Reminds me of Gary Coe's truck, not the high dollar show truck, the other truck he has the green one, with the co. name on the door and real patina.
If you use a hot air gun or blow dryer on the DOD sticker it should losen up the adhesive and the sticker should come off without hurting the paint, just don't use a scraper, once the sticker peels off use some "Goof Off" to take the rest of the adhesive off..

I would use a hair dryer since a heat might get hot enough to take some paint off with it.

My favorite kinda truck. Ya just can't go wrong with the first generation body styles. And dude the white walls look awesome!!!

  23. I love that truck. The blackwalls look good on it. You know how a farmer in church wears the clean overalls with a clean white dress shirt, and removes his hat to reveal the bright white forehead? That's the kind of look the wwws remind me of on the old well-used pickup. Which is a good and nifty look, and I'm not critisizing that look, it's just different. More of a study in contrasts.

www for sure,,i wondered why you hadnt put whites on that truck after the 46 looked so good with em...bob

  29. The whites really spruce the old girl up. I'd be running G78-15's on her if it was me, although the ones on the back have too much white on them
