Joliet, Illinois September 11 and 12 2009 United Midget Auto Racing Association is holding the last Auto Racing Event to be held at Joliet Memorial Stadium. The Stadium was opened in 1951 after 58 years the Stadium is going to be remodeled. No More Auto Racing! Be there for the Last Event!!
My dad and I used to go there when I was a kid. his buddie drove a Volvo in the "mini stock" division. I'll be there to see the last one
im definitley going, i used to go there during the 50's, should be real cool to see the track being raced on again. should be a great show.
My family lived in Joliet until 1970. I remember the 4th of July fireworks shows out there through the '60's. Lots of great memories there! I still have lots of family in and around the Chicago area.
I grew up in Joliet and moved away in the early 90s. I still recall hearing the cars race at night from my parents house near West Park. I thought the racing ended at the stadium in the late 80s shortly after a midget went into the stands.
