I have a '57 or 58' J2 six pack intake for the Oldsmobile 371. I've seen contradicting information that it either will or will not fit the 1960 year model 371. To me it doesn't make sense unless they changed the heads in some way. I have a feeling that it just wasn't available in 1960 as opposed to it not fitting. Can anyone clarify for me? I'd LOVE to run this intake on my '60 Olds project.
The 59-64 intake ports are a way different dimention and your manifold probable wont cover up the floor of the port Tony
Bummer. I plan on pulling the motor anyway to clean and paint everything so I guess I'll pull all my measurments once it's on the stand. Just wanted to verify ahead of time.
Definitely different, take it from me. I ordered 58 371 pistons for my 60 371 and found out that the pistons stuck out of the cylinders by 1/4". Exchanged them for 59 pistons and all was well. Seems the deck height is different.
ah ok. Well that sucks. You know how you think and think about "how cool this would be" then someone just hands you the part to make it happen? Yeah. It's the wrong part. lol Welp. Looks like I'll have to find something else and keep moving in that direction.
Get on classic oldsmobile forum and ask about J2 manifold to late 371/394. I believe there is a way of adapting the manifold to the newer block (thicker gaskets or some spacer plate). http://classicoldsmobile.com/forums
