I am thinking dual Rochester 2 barrels on a flathead. I know they would bolt right on to a stock 49-53 Merc but did anyone make a multiple carb manifold with 4 bolt flanges?

Edmunds did, with "Edmunds Racing" etched in the center instead of the "Edmunds Custom" that the standard three bolt carb intakes had.

Wasn't that intake for Marine applications?

you can get the 3 to 4 bolt adaptors though which will work on any manifold.

I have one ("Edmunds Racing") and since the carb mounting pads are level, I doubt if it had anything to do with marine applications. Most marine manifolds that I've seen had tipped carb mounting surfaces to compensate for the severe angle of engine placement in a boat.

I think the original idea was to use two '49 Mercury backdraft carbs on it.

Car Craft built a flathead drag car in the early '60's with 4 bolt carbs. According to the story, the carb platforms were separate parts of the molding structure and the manufacturer was able to just swap in cores up there from some other application and make the special order manifold with little trouble. Offy or Weiand? Will try to find article.
