we used to go to alot of the races all thru the 70's. the one race that i will never forget is the barstow to vegas. it seemed like every motorcycle ever made was at the start line.

i dont think this tire was a "marker" tire. its not burned and where i found it would not make any sense to be a marker. there are a bunch of mines out there so maybe it was a spare for a jeep or something. it has no tread left at all so it might have been a cheap spare.

Damn, some of that tin looks good! Beats the shit out of the half a Ford Pilot crap I find. Everything here got stripped bare before it was dumped, no one could afford new cars so they were driven untill they couldnt be repaired anymore.

i just got back from another desert trip. this time i found 4 cars out there. 1 rice burner, a late 60's vw, a 70's caddy, and a 57 chevy 2 door. here are the pics. i brought home the drivers side valve cover to hang on the garage wall. it was already off the motor laying next to the frame. my wife got the passengers inside door handle off the 57. it is broken where it attaches to the door, someone shot it off the door. i'll find someway to use it for something.

I love old tin photos like these. The common denominator is that they're usually shot up and the roofs are caved in (from being jumped on?).
    Some saveable. Some yard art.
It's pretty cool though that they've sat there for so long as part of the harsh desert landscape.

  25. Here's some from a much damper climate.....so sad.

Wow! What would the ramifications of dragging home some of that old iron from a ghost town? Is it Park land?
