  1. I was at a "Cars in the Park" show last week and I came across a fairly nice '64 Galaxie 500 for sale $7500, heres the problem look at the pics and see what I saw. I don't think this guy should be showing off with the hood open. :p

Looks like false advertizing to me.

This is a PERFECT example of what has become of Hot Rodders due to the OVER ABUNDANCE of Small Block Chevrolets installed into EVERY thing under the sun.

Tim, Did ya check to see if thats an Original 406 car ?

    Yup...predeccesor to the 427.
Short-lived...easier than continued explaining would be to remove the 406 emblems.
Its an awfully stock looking install for it to be a 406 car, huh?
I'll have to look again, more closely.

Maybe he thinks it is a 406.

  10. His Buddy told me that the owner before just added the emblems. I think they should come off, but then you have some holes to plug.

  11. I certainly hope not.

didn't the 406 only come in the 1962 model of the galaxy 500?

  14. I use to have a 406 intake on my 390, bought the whole set up for $150 at swap meet 1985.

  18. Probably a factory 390 car, considering all of the add-on A/C equipment. Like the power steering cooler, though! Always have liked the '63-'64 Galaxies!

The 406 was a '62-'63 engine and was available in '63s before the 427 was introduced mid-year, so to speak. It was not available in '64. '64 FE engines were 352, 390, 427.

  21. I sold the whole car for $1600 to buy a Sportster. Wish I had the ca today.

Did you guys ever think it may not be an american car? For used up left over engines for canadian production. 289's in 69 cars for example.

Do you remember the print add for the tri-power FE--"Be the first one on you block, off your block." and a picture of an empty street with two rubber stripes on the road. Loved it.

  27. Yes, that is right, 1963 was the last year for the 406.
