That pic of the car #4 in the judges tower was at Victoria right? I heard about it, but never saw the pics. Thanks!! Thanks to all the guys who post these great pics!! I've actually seen a couple of mine here! I contribute to catamountstadium.com. I know the owner of that site(Bill Ladabouche) would be glad you're showing them!! Neal

  11. Cool stuff I have been lurking since the thread started just about , just wondering does any body have a picture of the # 7 car a 37 chevy coupe that Jack Bellanato (promoter of Pine Brook Speedway) drove in the late 50's early 60's?

Keith Williams was one hell of a Modified driver - he was competitive in cars that were long considered outdated. Drove both incredibly hard and, at least when I saw him run, very cleanly as well.

Ken Canestrari is still (or was last year) running a Mod at some ROC tour shows. One of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet who always has immaculate equipment. He lives in Mechanicville, just north of Albany. His wife Dolores is a huge supporter of his, and back in the 1980s/1990s could be seen in the pits at Shangri-La, jumping up and down like crazy, whenever he was in the lead. Fate being what it is, the night he won his first Modified feature there, she couldn't make it.

My dad used to work on Monk Rauch (pronounced "Rauw")'s pit crew back in the day. Monk apparently made Jimmy Spencer look like a clean driver on the track. Monk ran a second hand store in Owego after he retired from racing, and passed away about 15 or so years ago. He was famous for his #18 Jr. cars that were owned in part by Dick Cassidy of Interstate Auto Parts and ran at Shangri La, Five Mile Point, and Glen Aubrey speedways. The cars used to sit up in back of the junkyard until they moved it in the late 1960s, and then I guess they were scrapped.

I've seen some ugly looking race cars in my day, but this takes the cake! What's up with the sh*t on the roof? A bell? Six Pack to go? I'd say he drank more than a six pack before they loaded that thing on the trailer!

this car was owned by kip pierce. the reason for 6 pack was it was powered by a 6 cyl hudson. on a side note the hudson engine was purchased from misty teague widow of marshal teague. nascar champ in a hudsion. this car won a lot of races in the miami area. the reason for the sedan bodys was you could mount everything closer to the rear wheels so more rear weight. you will notice he is setting over the rearend housing. and the last reason no person wanted those ugly sedans so he got them free leaving more money to spend on other things.. kip is still active in circle track racing. i think he worked on fast and not good looks. the bell was because some of his young fans called the car a trolley[train] and asked him to add the bell. the knome was a inside joke i was told sorry about no caps but i got gibbs lube on my key board while cleaning one of wepons, thank you... bobby.
