Not really a Hot Rod, but I'll add another 56 to the thread. Other than assorted hubcaps and skirts, this car has appeared the same since we put it on the road in '82.

  4. One of my favorite cars back in the day was a 67 Nova SS, bought one 37 years ago, restored it with all NOS GM parts, showed it in ISCA, did well, first car I ever painted, did it in Dupont 99L (black Lacquer). It's a 327 4speed, had Cragars then, has ralleyes and red lines currently. Here is where it gets crazy, I've never driven it since then, has 41k on the clock and has been sleeping ever since! One day I will learn how to post a picture on here, an another day I will wake this car up from hybernation. :D:cool:;)

This one's been in the family for over 50 years,The first pic is as a flathead powered beater in St. Louis

Amazing what a steady job at $1.85/hr can do. Five years later at a show in Tulsa, ok. Check out the "full race" white spare tire cover. A pure 60's nostalgia item that thankfully hasn't been revived

In storage for 30 + years. Suddenly a barn find in my own barn.

The old beater and I make it to the Big Time at Dearborn for the 75th anniversary in front of Ford World Headquarters.

I've had my black '29 Coupe for 25 years. The previous owner had the body since 1959. It's been on the road in it's current state since 1989. The only things that have changed on it in the past 20 years are the wheels/tires and addition of louvers on the side panels. If I had to sell all my cars, it would be the last one to go.

  7. Will have owned this '40 Tudor 30 years this November (the same day the American embassy was overrun by the Iranians). Sadly it has been waiting its turn in the same place since then while I went through carpentry apprenticeship, college, getting married and moving around the Great Plains. If I can get the concrete floor in my workshop it can finally get under cover. Took a look at it over the weekend and saw that the floor board in front of the rear seat is rotted out - damn!

The '55 in my avatar I've had since Labor Day '81, my '63 T-bird since April Fool's Day '81. I just don't get rid of things...

Had my 37 GMC since April of 1982, (27 years). Four paint jobs, two engines, two transmissions, two suspension systems, wore out three sets of tires. Friends joke that I'll be buried in it, but I say, "thats not legal, but it will probably lead the funeral procession".

    WOW ...

    Thanks for all the responses.
Now I know I am not the only one who finds a car they really want and keep it.

Some members of my family or social circle think it is a bad diease ...

I picked up the one in my avatar in July 1971 as a stocker with no engine or trans. With a clear title for the pricy sum of $500.00.

I bought my 55 wagon for $1100.00 back in 1978, 7 motors, 5 transmissions , and 3 rear ends later, I am still working on it.
Just put a five speed in it.

Ibought my 62 Plymouth in 1982, it was a basket case. It sat in my drive way for about 5 years untill I had some money saved up to build a motor. and over the years it has snow balled to what it is today.[IMG]

'32 2dr daily summer driver 35 years. '32 5w, perpetual project 36 years. Sold the '34 PU that I bought in 1962 last year. I've been accused of never selling anything but a lot of iron has passed through here in the last 50+ years. With over 200 vehicles under my belt I wouldn't have space to park them if I kept everything.:)

  23. '30 Model A Coupe since 1970, same for my '70 big-block Vette roadster. I've only had the '34 since 2005 (9 years), but plan on keeping it for the rest of my years!

I've had my coupe since I was 13. It's 26 years I've had it this summer. I've thought about letting it go a couple times, but if I could only have 1 Hot Rod forever, it would be a 40 Standard coupe, so why sell it?
