Oh Yeah, I've seen some of those. I bought the Strickler AWB car last weekend at the March Meet. Is the Wilshire Nova hard to find, as I haven't seen that at any of the places that had some of the others? Thanks
Here is the best picture resource for tri-five gassers - 156 pages and growing! Be warned though, you could spend hours looking at all of the pictures http://public.fotki.com/redlinetoys/gassers/
DAMMIT, I WAS GONNA GO EAT. shit, delivery pizza. Does Domino's do Manicotti? It's gonna be a long night.
Wow!! Killer group of photograph's!! Ihave to laugh a bit at this one. I can see flocks of hotrodders using Home Depot as the new resource for parts!! If I'm not mistaken, this appears to be an electrical "LB" fitting, in aluminum, or cast iron??? Now, thats thinking outside the box for cut-outs!!
Clone or real Gasser, Hmmmm.... I'm putting a Jim Meyers straight axle chassis under my 55' and I dont' care what anybody dubs my car, I'm gonna like it whether it's vintage correct, period correct, a recreation, a clone, or whatever new rhetoric is out there, the original 55 chassis went even up trade on a 57' 150 and I'm happay! I'll be done one of these years!
the headrs on my brothers 48 are made of conduit pipe from homedepot. i'm still leaning how to post pictures
The angle of the photo is deceiving, Thats gasser57's ford, those are full custom fabbed headers, no home depot reqiured, patterend after a set from the 60s and built by a longtime local racer. they are kinda cool when flames come out too!
Here is mine. alot of the parts were used and crusty. Built it up from a "not-so-good" stock look. Im happy. There is a picture of it when I got it.
No box involved Groucho, he just wasn't thinking. You should be required to pass an apptitude test before your allowed to buy tools.
Here is a pic of my '37 Chevy Coupe Gasser that I ran in the late 60's/early 70's. I ran a BBC with 4 speed Hydro and Olds 486 rear end and some big ladder bars and M&H slicks. The car Ran 11.0's which was pretty quick back in the 60's. If you go to my web-site http://www.marsh-racing.com/willys.htm you will see over 1200 pictures of gassers both old and new. I'm currently building a '41 Willys to run D Gas and some door banger classes. Here is a pic of current 41 Willys under construction:
Of all the styles of cars I've seen, gassers are my favorite. There's just something so primal and fearsome about them.
Very cool car; keep up the progress. I looked at those photos for a good long while and got some great ideas. Front end is clean!
here's one of my rides...hope to get it on the strip this fall. whaddya think, boys & girls? Chrome won't get you home, but rust is a bust...so what's a guy to do?
