That is a wicked 55! Do you have any pics of the interior? I'm curious if that set back mill meant all the pedals and seat also had to move back.

I have been a huge fan of the photos that Howard Gribble aka Kid Deuce
    had on his Flickr website.
He has a huge collection of early lowrider photo taken at various shows in the late 60's and early 70's. Amazing paintjobs on nearly stock - but lowered - cars.

I can look at these for hours...
(some of them might have been shown before...)

    All photos by Howard Gribble.

The 56 Nomad with the Packard tailights looks totally natural, too bad Nomads are so expensive I'd love to do that.

Just to think about the hours and hours, hell lifetimes for that matter, that are spent on these cars makes you appreciate them. I like em alot.

Awesome pics man, nothing better than pics of old school when old school was new school. You do something like that nowadays and call it Ol' School and people will tell you it isn't. Like somebody once said "The past ain't what it used to be."

Man, these shots bring back some memories! I remember being stationed at 29 Palms Marine Base in 82. On the weekends, we'd go down to Indio and watch the parade of low riders throwing sparks down Hwy 111. The kandy and pearl on some of those cars was un-freakin'-believable! I can only imagine the time invested just in masking some of these cars. Great thread!!! Keep 'em comin'!

Oh Holy Shit that Fast Back Impala is the greatest thing I have ever seen. I gotta get me one of those.

  24. Don't have interior pics, but most tri-5s gassers of the day that had the maximum 10% engine setback just notched the firewall and had a sheet metal box that ended right about at the dash board lower lip to accommodate the set back, while leaving the pedals where they were. Having your feet right next to the clutch, rather than behind it, made explosion-proof scattershields all the more important.
