    what became of this ride....it was on ebay probably 4 or 5 years ago.....it was built to beat the milliion dollar chevelle convertible that sold at barrett jackson...think they were wanting something like 250k at the time ....

    Man oh man is that one sweet roadster! I love those polished American wheels and the M&H's, absolutely gorgeous!! :cool:
     
  5. I remember this Car, it was owned by Bros. Garland and Garfield Alston,they ran a Gulf Station in Wash. DC. They were sponsored by a local Upholstry shop, Wilbert and Rufus Auto Upholstry, also in DC. This photo is at Aquasco Speedway. The car hauled Ass !

    These "roadsters" erupted in response to those other competitors who abandoned the traditional gasser shells for late model pony cars, Mustangs, Vettes, etc...They were really just altereds that featured lights and fenders. Still, they were entertaining to watch and could hold their own against the other cars which had morphed into bascially blown gas funnies.

    Does anyone have any more photos of this car? I was building a model of it and my Dell PC crashed and I lost (along with my e-mail address book) my reference pics. There was an e-mail thread going 'round and 'round a couple of months ago (B&W pics of old dragsters) and there were several of Shower Power included.
