Holy crap thats is nice! Whats the dash out of? early chrysler? I love the dual glove compartments. And you can't beat a red bakelite zepher wheel! Keep us updated. John

That's the most bitchin' steering wheel I have ever seen!!!

 

Here's my '31 Vicky dash. The gauge panel is a reproduction accessory item called Aristocrat. It screws right over the stock cluster. I had it chromed and have an engine turned insert.

Of course, I've enlarged the holes to accept the modern Stewart Warner gauges with the vintage Stewart Warner Speedo. The original fuel level site is top center. From left to right, ammeter, oil pressure, speedo, water temp, clock.

I've spent a lot of miles staring at that cluster.

 

This is an OT car that I'v owned for 36 years. Got it runnin' again so my son can take it to Seattle next week. I did this dash in 1980... 5 years before he was born.

 

Many untold hours of meticulous labor went into this beauty that graces my Studebaker truck . What happened to the meticulous labor after it went in is unknown .

I filled mine and painted it candy tangerine to match the outside. The tach is in a chrome cup mounted to the lower left of the column. It looks cool when you're driving it around at night and the street lights sparkle on the dash.

I'm thinking about maybe doing some subtle pinstriping on the dash someday.

Could someone tell me what car this dash cluster is out of. It looks so bitchen!! I have the speedo portion but never new what it was out of.

This panel was scratch built including the turning for a 29 A coupe.

 

Brookville makes one,for 32 3 windows.

Interesting to see two Stewart-Warner "hollywood" cluster's in this thread, and both are upside down!

This is the dash in my Cortina, forgive the grainy images, my shed is not the best environment for snapping photos at this time of the evening. She's pretty basic really. I managed to find the often elusive top panel with the gauge pod in it, from one of the higher spec models of Cortina. I never liked the look of having the smaller gauges in the dash, and I wanted that space to line up the switches in a neat line.

Ignore the gaping hole in the floor/firewall, and the dummy crossmember/trolley wheels on it. They're just for maneuverability during this stage of the build!




I'm not really sure what sort of look I want to go with for the inside any more. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. i'm just not sure what style of gauges I should go for. Given that I'm going for a nostalgiac, patinaed kind of look on the outside, something to suit that would be great. Here's a photoshop of my exterior look.



I really just want to go with an aftermarket, electric set of gauges, not something out of another car, and I want to keep the dash pretty much as is, again not grafting in something from another car, as cool as that can be. But should I get the top panel trimmed, or just bead blast it and let it go patinaed too? I thought maybe some pinstriping on the dash too.

I'd really like to lose the late model bucket seats in it too, but I've already made up and welded in new panels in the floor for them, made up some brackets, and got them mounted. Seems a bit silly to change it now, but I guess if it's not really what I want... I'd love to throw the old bench seat back in there. It'd have to be modified with a cutout down the centre to clear the shifter.

Decisions, desicions.

I like the stock or resto look of a 40 Ford Standard dash cluster. Here is one I did for my 40 Ford pickup. Yes I did put a 40 Deluxe dash in my project pickup. The black dash and cluster is in my currant 40 Pickup.
