Here are a few pictures of my 54 Buick Special "Top Secret".
My brother Geoff & I started by removing the roof & replacing
it with a 57 Buick roof. The roof was chopped 3 inches in ft & 3.5 rr. I then moved the ft fender port holes down below the trim line which will help the car look lower when its finished. Headlights are from a 57 Lincoln & tail light are 50 Chrysler. The car is now painted & I will add more pictures once the trim & wheels are on.

I like the 57 roof, looks like it belongs. How are you going to deal with the vent windows and side glass triming?

Metalman - The vent window frames are cut ,welded, replated & ready to install. The door glass frames only required a small adjustment due to the tappered slope of the roof. The rr quarter window frames I cut down to fit & will work fine. The center back window is the original size- just layed down , and the rear corner glass is sunk into a deeper channel. The windshield will hopefully be done next week.

They are potmetal - I made a wood guide to hold the two halfs together for alignment & then had them welded . Worked out great.

I alway thought a GM car from the mid 50s should never be chopped. You proved me wrong, that thing is sweet! I cant believe how beautiful the lines are now.

Nice! The top proportions and your workmanship appear to
be excellent. Brings back a lot of memories of when I was cutting the
top on my 57 Buick. When answering the question as to what my
next project would be-- I said chopping a 57 Buick. My friend
replied Why? The mid-fifties cars don't need to be chopped.
Now he replies -- the factory should have done it that way.
(yours is what the factory should have done to the 54s.) I
also sunk the windows front and rear. The small wrap around
windows in the rear were the biggest pain to do. It looks like
you Canadian hammers know what you're doing up there.
Anxiously waiting for part two. Not to steal your thread,
here are a couple of pictures of my 57.
