Now I have to ask: Did Stellings make aluminum dual-quad intakes for SBCs too?????? I don't know how the two Stellings air cleaners could mesh so perfectly/beautifully with each other unless the carb spacing was also set by design --- as with an integrated Stellings intake/carb/air cleaner package.

By the way, the-four barrel carbs on this dual quad intake are Carter (or possibly Borg-Carter). I couldn't see any name on the aluminum intake manifold itself --- possibly because it was so dusty/dirty. I did see the firing order embossed at the front right corner of the aluminum dual-quad intake, and there is also a chromed oil fill tube near the front of the aluminum intake. Sorry that I haven't got a picture to post yet. Anyway, the question still stands for the SBC speed part experts/historians out there: Did Stellings make an aluminum dual-quad SBC intake for its "intersecting circles" SBC air cleaners, and was it designed for Carter carbs? Is this a rare set-up? I'll try to post a picture Saturday.

4t64rd ---- I'm almost positive those are cal custom chromed steel valve covers...at least they look damn close, or an almost exact copy. Ran those on a 72 chevelle wagon I had in college in '95. I think they were manufactured in the 70's.

OK, of those are what real Keystone valve covers look like, then what are these?

I recently acquired an aluminum, wet deck, die cast SBC cylinder block, un-machined. It is very light. Can anyone tell me more about this? I will take photos and start a separate thread. I've never seen another.

I have never seen a pair of these before. Not that traditional but. Got them a few years ago at the Pomona swap. Look to be NOS, never used before. Had them polished up. Just put them on my brothers 32 PU.

    was it a brownfield...?

  22. Seems I read that there were some early factory aluminum heads, but they had porosity problems and were recalled/destroyed.

That Smokey Yurick manifold, there's a similar one for SBC with Junior Johnson's name cast in it, NOS and still needs some machining, on that famous internationally known auction site. It's still there, with a five grand price tag. Rare as rocking horse shit, I guess. Five grand?

  24. I recently "won" a manifold similar to this on ebay, except it has the top cast for 6 duece 97s or similar carbs. Its an edelbrock str10 6 Its the only one Ive seen anyone know the vintage or has used one?

This is all have to contribute, a couple pages from the 68 Moon catalog. The cover shows a killer SBC with a Moon-Weber manifold, Moon no-name VCs and a Moon front cover. The page inside offers manifold details, including its use in the Chaparral race cars, and shows an even rarer critter, the four-Weber cross-ram.

    --------------------------------
I've seen a couple of those set-ups. Not sure who made
them them, but maybe Chris-Craft, Barr Marine or Palmer
    possibly??. They're not high-performance, they're for marine
iuse - made to give a very low profile - in order to keep the
engine cover height down. About the rear facing carb not
leaving room for a distributor. On these engines there was
only a stub shaft fitted into the distributor hole to drive the
oil pump. The stub shaft fitting usually also had a mechanical
tach drive, although sometimes the mechanical tach drive
was taken off the back of the generator too. The generator
was driven by a V-belt- pulley attached to the flywheel
flange and the distributor, water pump, starter and marine
gearbox were attached to and driven off a cast iron
accessory case on the front of the engine.
