Been into custom vans since the about 1975. I appreciate all custom vehicles and respect the fact that not everyone likes to see vans on this board. I have thousands of custom van pictures on showtrux.com, you can visit if you like. I will just post a few of them that I think the HAMB members may appreciate. These photos have all been taken since 1999 mostly in past 5 years.

I still see survivor vans from the van heyday. I see this one old gy with his 70's econoline, he knows I know. But I get no respect. Here's one of mine:

Just joined the site after a link at vannin.com . Cool old vanning pics, and cool to see pics of my friends' vans today. We are still here...600 vans expected at the 36th National Tuck-In to be held at Altamont, Illinois in July. The Van Nationals are one of the longest running events in motorsport. Our numbers are down, but the fun is still there. I found it interesting how many posters had owned vans or been to van runs in the past. When we go to cruise nights and car shows with our vans, we constantly hear "I didn't know you guys were still doing this!" We are! In recent years there has been a huge movement of restoring old show vans and early models. There were 50 first generation vans at last years Nationals! The newest first gen vans are 38 years old. There are oldschool sin bins, new bagged and tubbed Astros, 10 second drag vans, family conversion vans, and just plain beaters! After 34 years and over 600 van events, I am still having a ball! And yes, the rear area of the van still works like it did 30 years ago! Check out the pics at www.showtrux.com , and my vans are featured at: http://www.showtrux.com/showvans/runnindownadream/index.htm and

Sorry not Duane Allman. It is John Finley, he was in Inland Vans Berdoo. I have known him since elementry school. He was doing what he did best in the pic. Getting sweeties talked into the back of his van!!

I just picked this one up for $300. It runs great with a 6cyl and 3spd. Solid old van. I like the windows now that I'm older and don't smoke dope and can afford a hotel room. It even came with chrome reverse wheels and baby moons that cleaned up pretty good. This is the backyard where I found it. What's cool about it is the side doors on the other side. When you open the doors, a metal step swings out from under the van so you can walk right in. When you close the door it swings back under the van!

I love all those 70's picks,
When a can of beer was mandatory and shirts weren't allowed.

Man, I wouldn't turn down some of those 70's vans! I remember seeing this roaming the streets when I was a kid.

  18. It was a picture, or cover of a 70's Hot Rod mag.-MIKE:cool:

  19. The only thing I never understood was why the Ford designers tried to make the Econoline look like a mutated '59 Pontiac or '61 Tempest, from the front.

  20. Mutated? It's all in the eye of the beholder.
The Econoline van was first introduced as an early 1961 model, right?
Which would indicate that it was being developed at the same time as the Pontiac models from the same vintage- in a design studio on the other side of town.

Most likely what influenced the front of the Econoline was sharing a family look with similar vintage Fords- that is the "Teardrop" or Cateye surround for the headlights...

Surfing the net today I found a pic of my old 66 Dodge. http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/pindan/dodge.htm
It was chopped 5 in. , side doors removed, rain gutters removed, vent windows removed, body seams welded. I sold it at Carlisle about 19 years ago to a guy from Cali.
